TORONTO – Situated in Toronto’s design and décor district, AM Studio is one of Canada’s leading designer/manufacturer of artistic custom lighting. Founded by Orly and Giora Meyer in 2007, they create contemporary and timeless lighting fixtures from various materials that are popular in private residences and institutional settings in Canada and many other countries around the world. AM Studio’s success is based on a passion for design, expertise with fused glass technology and a commitment to quality, functionality, safety and the satisfaction of its clients.
Expanding its international exposure, AM Studio Custom Lighting took part in City-TV’s recent Citylinespecial live broadcast of the 58th Grammy Awards from Los Angeles. At the request of Cityline, AM Studio designed lighting for the on-site studio of the Grammy edition of the TV lifestyle magazine.
AM Studio worked closely with Shai Tamasi, Cityline’s Design Expert, to create an eye-catching lighting presence that added a glamorous touch to the set. AM Studio’s Blooming post lamps, with frosted, pearly-looking glass globes in various heights and colour combinations, fit in perfectly with the furniture and colour scheme of the set, designed by Shai and interior designer Kimberley Seldom. Along with the attractive look of the lamps, the soft lighting from their LED bulbs added a soothing, aesthetic aura for both those in the on-site studio and TV viewers at home.
“We were honoured that Cityline chose AM Studio to be involved in a high-profile broadcast of their program for such a special occasion,” says AM Studio co-owner Orly Meyer, who traveled to Los Angeles to oversee the set-up of the lamps. “It was a unique experience to be part of this project. Collaborating with Shai and seeing everything come together as planned was very gratifying. An added bonus was meeting Cityline’s host Tracy Moore and getting to know the Cityline team.”
Cityline is the longest-running daytime talk-show for women in Canadian television history and has been hosted by Tracy Moore since 2008.
AM Studio’s work with Cityline in Los Angeles is the latest in a series of special projects it has completed in Canada and abroad. This winter, Orly Meyer, co-owner AM Studio, was invited to take part in a presentation and seminar at the annual IIDEX design and conference in Toronto, in part due to the customized lighting it created for Canada House in London, England.
