Award-winning photographer launches Kickstarter to share the spirit of the White Sands

ALAMOGORDO, New Mexico – March 3, 2016 – Talented fine art photographer, Craig Varjabedian, launched a Kickstarter campaign to complete the principal photography of the captivating White Sands National Monument, which will be part of a fine art book that will be released in 2017. The campaign goal is to raise $10,000 by March 22, 2016. This project has reached more than a third of its funding goal in just a few days.

Craig is working with a not-for-profit publisher, University of New Mexico Press, to share the spirit of the White Sands through his luminous photographs compiled into a fine art book. There will be 80 images capturing one of the world’s great natural wonders. The white wave-like dunes of gypsum sand cover 275 square miles. The fragile landscape and profound beauty is breathtaking. This ever-changing landscape reveals a look into the past into early man and prehistoric times. It’s commonly referred to as the “Galapagos of North America” and it is protected by the National Park Service.

Varjabedian hopes through the photography in the fine art book will help increase awareness of the importance to preserving this landscape and reach out to the younger generation about this true beauty.

The book will include three essays written by gifted writers. Award-winning poet and writer, Jeanetta Calhoun Mish, is crafting the main essay.

“As you can imagine, this photography project is an expensive undertaking and up until now the project has been self-funded. Because I know how much you appreciate fine photography I hope you will join with us to make possible the completion of this body of work and the creation of a beautiful volume worthy of this truly magnificent place.” ~ Craig Varjabedian, Fine Art Photographer
