Stratos 714 On Display for the First Time at EAA AirVenture

BEND, OR – 24 Jul, 2017 – The Stratos 714 will be shown for the first time at the Oshkosh AirVenture, July 24 – 30. The freshly painted and upholstered prototype will be on display all week near the southwest corner of Boeing Plaza. It is also scheduled for an in-flight demonstration on Tuesday, July 25, at 2:45 PM. Stratos Aircraft is hosting an exhibit booth between the Grand Entrance and Building D, at space 370.

Since the first flight, on November 21st last year, the aircraft has flown 37 times. The Stratos 714 is a “multi-role” VLJ. It is designed to support personal, business and air taxi use. Seating six people, it can travel 1,200 NM at 400 knots. With a lighter cabin load, it can extend cross country legs up to 1,600 NM.

“We have been very pleased with the results of the initial flight test program,” said Stratos CEO Michael Lemaire. “We were able refine the flight controls, improving the feel, and the pilots who have flown the aircraft have given us great feedback.”

The Stratos 714 has the highest thrust to weight ration of any VLJ and this results in excellent take-off performance. Factory test pilot Sean Van Hatten said: “The takeoff is really an event in this airplane. When you reach rotation speed, the airplane simply levitates off the ground.”

Carsten Sundin, the CTO and Chief Designer said: “It has been a long road, with extensive designs and tests. The time invested has resulted in a true business jet performance that is within reach of an owner-operator for the first time. We have taken a methodical approach in the design and we anticipate only minor design changes will occur in the certification process. Parallel to the design effort, we have built a solid foundation to support certification and production. This includes production-quality tooling, parts traceability, costing systems, and facilities infrastructure.

Soulful Singer Anna Ross to Release “First Day” Remix with Duran Duran’s John Taylor

Anna Ross’ single “First Day” is the title track from her debut album and was co-written and produced with Duran Duran’s vocalist/songwriter Simon Le Bon.

Anna Ross has attracted some of the music industry’s biggest names with her hypnotic voice and mesmerizing, soul stirring musical interpretations.  She’s toured as a background vocalist for such artists as Lisa Stansfield, Tom Jones, and Tina Turner.  The talented singer has launched her solo career with the inspired single “First Day,” from her debut album of the same name, to world-wide positive reviews.  The popular track caught the attention Duran Duran’s Simon Le Bon who will collaborate with Ross, John Taylor (Duran Duran’s bassist) and producer Charles Scott to remix the song for an upcoming global distribution.

 

Born in London and brought up in Newcastle, Anna Ross was encouraged by her parents from a young age to explore and express her interest in music.  After leaving school at 16, she gained experience with many local bands and eventually became part of the duo V Corporation, which was signed for a time to Chrysalis Records.  When the band eventually split, Ross moved back to London and started working as a touring background vocalist for such artists as Lisa Stansfield, Stereophonics, Tom Jones, and Tina Turner, before landing a tour with iconic British band Duran Duran, with whom she has worked ever since.  Highlights with them have been playing four world tours, Coachella, Lollapalooza, Roskilde, Live Aid, Live Earth, The Eden Project, the opening ceremony of the 2012 Summer Olympics, and TV appearances including Ellen DeGeneres, Good Morning America, Jimmy Fallon, The Tonight Show, Conan O’Brien, Graham Norton, and Jonathan Ross.

In between tours Ross has earned degrees in English Literature and Psychology, and she felt is was a natural progression to bring all these experiences together to write her inaugural solo album, “First Day”.

“Duran Duran’s drummer Roger Taylor was the first person to ever hear any of my demos,” said Ross, “and he gave such positive feedback that it gave me the confidence to approach Simon Le Bon to ask if he wanted to co-write.”  Duran Duran are 100% supportive of “First Day” and multiple members have contributed to Ross’ debut.  Bassist John Taylor commented, “When I heard Anna’s song ‘First Day’, I begged her to let me have a chance at doing a remix.  It’s a great song, and I’m so happy that she is finally putting out her own material.  She’s an extraordinary singer and the song has a strong message.”

Co-producer Charles Scott is a music arranger at J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Studio.  He heard Anna’s song and immediately had ideas about where he wanted the new  version to go.  “I’m pretty happy with the way it turned out. We hope you like it,” he says.

Singer Jeff Ray Releases “Somebody’s Cryin” Music Video About Suicide Prevention

A tireless advocate for mental health awareness and suicide prevention, Jeff Ray’s new music video was shot as a tribute to his late friend and to raise consciousness for the cause.

When singer Jeff Ray lost his close friend to suicide, he was inspired to use his music to reach out and help others suffering with depression.  In collaboration with  I.M.P. Music PR,  Ray has announced the release of his new music video “Somebody’s Cryin”, a song written by his dear friend James Greathouse, who he’d played music with for years.  The video is a tribute to the writer, who took his own life August 16th, 2015.

 

According to The World Health Organization (WHO) approximately one million people commit suicide each year worldwide. That equates to about one death every 40 seconds or 3,000 per day.  Jeff Ray is an outspoken advocate for suicide prevention, and his new music video is meant to reach out and provide positivity and hope for those that find themselves in similar circumstances.  This a very personal video and song for Jeff, and is the featured single for his upcoming solo album “Our Little Town”.

“I started playing at 14 and taught myself to play. I was hooked. I like anything with strings but I’m a guitar player,” says Ray.  “The Our Little Town album is a cross-boundary project…there’s rock, country…it’s Americana.”

Ray was always surrounded by music in his adolescence, and he spent hours mastering different songs on guitar throughout high school.  By the time he graduated, he’d already played dozens of shows and went on for the next few years playing and producing eclectic music projects across the Eastern United States.

In ’96, Jeff moved with his good friend Brian Butter to Los Angeles to form their new musical vision,  but after months of not finding the right musicians and running into dead ends, they decided that West Virginia would be the area to form the style of band they had in mind.  Back home, they formed Mo’ Bigley along with a handful of friends/veteran musicians from around the area.  Once the group was together, they gained momentum quickly and played shows for several years up and down the East Coast.  “Mo’ Bigley is probably my favorite band I’ve ever played in. We had a magical chemistry and sense of brotherhood,” said Jeff.  He still plays songs today that were written back during the Mo’ Bigley era.

Somebody’s Cryin touches on a subject that is easier for most to ignore than to face.  James’ family gave Jeff their blessing to cut a single and a video about this powerful story, and The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention gave their full backing and support as well.  “There’s a real deep sadness involved with suicide, especially when it’s someone close to you that you love,” says the singer.  “There is also regret… knowing you could have somehow prevented it.”

Jeff Ray’s video is heartfelt, sad, haunting, and beautiful, and hopes to share a message of compassion with those in need, or those that might know someone who needs help.  Fans of John Mellencamp, Tom Petty, Gary Allan, or just good ol’ country coated rock n’ roll, will more than appreciate this talented musician’s latest effort.
