The POWER 100 athlete rankings return for the sixth straight installment

The Cleveland Cavaliers’ LeBron James (No. 1), Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry (No. 2), and tennis’ Novak Djokovic (No. 3) top the Horrow Sports Ventures/MVPindex 2015-16 POWER 100 ranking of the most powerful pro athletes within the United States.

To determine who the 100 most powerful athletes are on- and off-the-field as the NBA and NHL head toward the postseason and MLB opens its 2016 campaign, Rick Horrow, CEO of Horrow Sports Ventures, collaborated with Dallas, TX based MVPindex, as well as Thomson Reuters.

For 2015-16, on-field attributes comprise 50% of the athletes’ POWER. The other 50% is based entirely on a key off-field attribute: social media presence. Combining on-field (50%) and off-field (50%) attributes yields the POWER score. Athletes are then ranked based on POWER to find the top 100.

“This is the sixth year of the POWER 100, and it continues to generate discussion and command attention as an invaluable tool to evaluate an athlete’s brand,” said Horrow. “By focusing narrowly on social media for our off-field component, we are combining strong performance analytics with the most robust social media statistics in the industry, forming an unique way of analyzing an athlete’s overall performance measurement and marketability.”

The POWER 100 uses a complex statistical model to accurately compare performance and influence through on-field and off-field attributes. This metric is collectively known as POWER, and enables equitable comparison across otherwise incomparable sports.

The 2015-16 POWER 100 focuses on long-established sports and the U.S. market specifically. Key indicator statistics were used as predictors of performance per sport. Statistical weight varied with impact. And for sports lacking indicator statistics, such as tennis and golf, relevant rankings were used.

The on-field attributes measure an athlete’s ranking within his or her sport, relative to all other participants. Each athlete is compared to peer group averages, by sport (and position when necessary), in a number of statistical categories.Next, a multiplier is used to adjust athletes’ rankings, based on the popularity and viewing audience of that sport.

OFF-FIELD SPECIFICATIONS

The off-field score was measured by the MVPindex, a unique scoring algorithm that blends three key social media metrics in its calculation. MVPindex considers reach along with engagement activity and the conversation surrounding the athlete across the web. The reach, engagement, conversation components provide a focused picture of an athlete’s influence and the overall value of his or her social media footprint.

The 2015-16 POWER 100 reveals a homogenous balance between athletes participating in individual sports and team sports. Basketball players came in strong as the NBA regular season was in full swing and interest in the post season built. Tennis players continued to show their marketplace mettle, heavily populating the POWER 100 Top 20. Led by Djokovic, the tennis ranks included Serena Williams (No. 4, the top-ranked woman on the list), Andy Murray (No. 16), Roger Federer (No. 18), Maria Sharapova (No. 19), and Rafael Nadal (No. 20).

In an April 17, 2015 article, Entrepreneur.com quoted Bob Burg and John David Mann from their book, The Go-Giver in saying that, “All things being equal, people will do business with and refer business to those people they know, like and trust!”

“This philosophy applies not only to business but also applies to who people will follow and vote for as the best candidate in the GOP nomination, and General Election for POTUS,” says Robert Newhart Jr, a strategic marketing consultant in Raleigh, North Carolina who develops branding and positioning strategies for small businesses and nonprofit organizations across the Country. “Currently all things are not equal and Mr. Trump cannot win with his current strategy that lacks a coherent plan that most people in the USA can like and trust.”

According to Newhart Jr, a coherent strategic plan or policy is difficult because it forces the business leaders to not only visualize a clear outcome but share and be able to execute on that plan. “Relating back to the know, like and trust philosophy I mentioned earlier,” Newhart Jr postured, “All things are not equal in this GOP race as Mr. Trump is not a politician like his competitors, but he is a genius business man. He cannot be bought as he is using his own money to run and he promises to ‘Make America Great Again’ which his core followers are buying into. So he has an advantage in the ‘know’ as almost everyone knows of Donald Trump.”

According to Newhart Jr, most business owners struggle with and spend most of their time and money on this ‘know’ piece and not enough time on the like and trust. Newhart Jr explained. “A strategic plan needs to focus on all three phases of the know, like, trust philosophy if one is to be truly successful. Your plan must be resolute towards achieving your desired outcome, yet remain flexible so that when a strategy does not work you can shift quickly to try a different approach and keep moving forward. The worst thing we can do is to not adapt or do nothing.”

People already know Mr. Trump, they are desperately looking for ways to like him and trust him. Name-calling and generalities are not a solid strategy if he expects to win the GOP Nomination. “The worst possible thing you can do as a business owner or a person running for office is to stick to a plan that is not working,” Newhart Jr explains, “People expect leaders to have concrete plans and be able to communicate those plans as well as execute the plans. They will follow a leader that they can believe in who has their back (like) and feel they are going to follow through on what they said (trust).”

Newhart Jr advises Donald Trump with this, “Mr. Trump would be best served if he spent his time and money learning what his constituents want and then clearly lay out and communicate a strategic plan to deliver on that. Cut out the name calling and theatrics – No One Likes That. Focus on the outcome. It is no different in business, you cannot build a business on a product or service no one wants. You must deliver a product or service people want and need and then communicate in a way that will make people naturally like you and see you as the authority on that product/service so they have a high level of trust and are naturally attracted to your business to buy. Mr. Trump needs to get clear on this fast if he intends to win.”

Yet Newhart Jr concedes that most of the people he works with do not have a strategy either. “They have a mission and goals and a general idea of what they want to achieve but lack a strategic plan to get them there,” Newhart Jr says. “Many leaders are too focused on what the competition is doing and buried in little things that they forget about a strategic plan to deliver their products and services to the people who matter. That’s what I do is help them build a strategic plan and process to help increase their visibility, likeability, and respectability.”

Pope Francis, Jubilee Timelines: Good News and Bad, says Expert

Pope Francis’ UN visit last fall and his announcement of Jubilee in December intersected three biblical timelines with end-time significance. The jubilee cycles offer good news, but St. Peter said 1000 years are as a day with no delay for a time of judgment according to Dr. Ruhling, prophecy author.

PRESCOTT, AZ – 08 Apr, 2016 – Pope Francis’ timing for his UN address had awesome significance, says Dr. Richard Ruhling, author of The Alpha & Omega Bible Code. He is not Catholic, but he says the papal UN visits mark the jubilee of jubilees, and also a time of judgment that some Christians call the tribulation. He explains as follows:

#1. The 4th Commandment (eliminated from schools–the average person has little understanding of this all-time best-seller) says that God gives man six days to do his work, with the 7th day as a Sabbath, a memorial to God’s Creation of the world in six days. A system of sevens re-enforced this for Israel in Leviticus 25 where they worked the land for six years and rested it during a sabbatical year.

After seven sabbatical years, on the Day of Atonement, jubilee was proclaimed as slaves were released and debts were cancelled in the 50th year. We might wonder if debts will be cancelled in an impending collapse.

The jubilee year was also the first year of the next sequence so that jubilees came every 49 years. The 70-week prophecy (70 x 7) of Daniel 9 (490 years) spanned 10 jubilees (70 x 7 = 49 x 10) and pointed also to the Messiah.

That prophecy began with a jubilee event in 457 BC when Artaxerxes gave Israelites freedom to leave Persia and to rebuild Jerusalem. The 490 years ended in 34 AD (no year “0”).

Forty more jubilees of 49 years bring us to 1994-95—the jubilee (50th) of jubilees from 457 BC, and in 1995, Pope John Paul II spoke to the UN General Assembly on the Day of Atonement.

Most Jews would not recognize that fact because they use astronomy to mark the new month when the moon is in conjunction with the sun and it cannot be seen. In Bible times, the thin crescent in the western sky after sunset was counted as the new moon and beginning of the new month.

#2. Using the visible crescent, the papal visits to the UN were on the Day of Atonement, both in 1995 and 2015 and it introduces a 2nd timeline because 20 jubilees (20 x 49) = 980 years with 20 extra years in a 1000 years. With 20 years between papal visits on the Day of Atonement, 2015 marked the end of 6,000 years from Creation and bring us to what St. Peter said not to ignore-

“1000 years are as a day… God is not slack [the Greek word, braduno, means no tarrying or delay] the day of the Lord will come.” (3rd chapter of Peter’s 2nd letter) If there is no tarrying or delay, we should expect a time of judgment to begin this spring.

#3. A 3rd timeline needs explanation, says Ruhling. When 50 thousand Christians accepted Baptist Wm Miller’s message of impending judgment, based on a misunderstanding of Daniel and the rapture (giving a message, ‘the Bridegroom comes’), they suffered a Great Disappointment in 1844.

It was endorsed by St. John’s ‘bitter belly’ when he ate the little book of Daniel in the 10th of Revelation, but John was told to ‘prophesy again,’ which means those same messages will fit later, but when?

The context of the judgment in Daniel 7 is the key. Verses 8-11, before and after the judgment, mention the ‘great words’ of the little horn which Protestant reformers said was the papacy. In 1844 the pope had no great words. Napoleon had taken the pope prisoner and he died in exile.

But in 2015, the pope had ‘great words’ for the UN General Assembly on the Day of Atonement. With this missing ingredient from 1844 now satisfied, the Angel’s words to John, ‘Prophesy again’ fit. A time of judgment is impending and it is also good news for Christians who believe ‘the Bridegroom comes.’

Ruhling says Christ’s wedding parables offer high destiny for readiness and understanding and serious loss for failure, this begs a better understanding but it’s beyond the scope of this release. Readers can get more information at Ruhling’s website.
