Palmetto Distillery Opens New Retail Location Inside Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport

Anderson, S.C. – January 4, 2018 – Palmetto Distillery and the Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport, known as the GSP partner together for the grand opening of the newest retail location of Palmetto Distillery in the Grand Hall. The GSP retail store will carry all of the locals favorite whiskey’s and moonshines and will be available for purchase and carry on for the convenience of GSP Airport travelers. The new location will be opening any day now.

Palmetto Distillery, the local Anderson, South Carolina family owned and operated distillery is opening a new retail location inside of GSP – the Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport. The GSP airport is located in upstate Greenville, South Carolina ideally positioned between Atlanta and Charlotte just off of Interstate-85.

Palmetto Distillery is located in the heart of Anderson, S.C. and is the first micro-distillery in South Carolina to produce Palmetto Moonshine, South Carolina’s First Legal Moonshine and Palmetto Whiskey, South Carolina’s Most Awarded Craft Whiskey. Palmetto Distillery also has the distinction of being the South Carolina Whiskey Distillery of the Year, as voted by the New York International Spirits Competition. 

Travelers planning to pick up last-minute gifts before their flight out of Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport will be able to purchase one extra item for the flight home – moonshine. The store is located right beyond the TSA checkpoint, across from Chick-fil-A and next to Dunkin’ Donuts and is due to open any day now.

GSP announced on Twitter that Anderson-based Palmetto Distillery plans to sell its popular moonshine at the airport along with the company’s other retail items which is slated to be open any day. Started by brothers Trey and Bryan Boggs, Palmetto Distillery sells whiskey and five flavors of moonshine: white lightening, strawberry, peach, blackberry and apple pie.

All of Palmetto Distillery’s products are crafted from original recipes and mash bills passed down for over 100 years. At its core, Palmetto Distillery is dedicated to preserving the methods and traditions of those historic moonshiners who came before them. The proprietors, Bryan and Trey Boggs are descendants of moonshiners and passionate about preserving the heritage and traditions of this Southern way of life. 

“Because GSP wanted to showcase a local company with a rich history inside the new Grand Hall that the airport is building, they extended a special invitation to us at Palmetto Distillery to join and become a part of new expansion project,” explained Bryan Boggs, Palmetto Co-Owner, “the GSP is projected to be opened officially in the first part of the New Year.”

Hudson retail, located next to Dunkin Donuts in the Grand Hall have been carrying Palmetto’s pantry goods, including their Margarita Mix, Bloody Mary Mix, Tiger Tang, apple pie and blackberry, strawberry preserves, BBQ sauce, and goat soaps made locally in Anderson, for the last few years.

“It’s very exciting to think of all these travelers that are coming in and out of Greenville-Spartanburg,” Trey Boggs said. “Of all the gimmicky things you can buy at an airport, I’d much rather have a jar of moonshine. And if someone is traveling back to where they’re from, I would want them to bring me a jar of moonshine.”

GSP Airport travelers will be able to carry their purchase onto the plane once they have passed through TSA. Customers wanting to take some of the local flavor with them can now do so by purchasing in the already checked point area and put their items in their carry-on bags.

The announcement of Palmetto Distillery moonshine comes as the airport’s $125 million renovation started in June 2012. Consumers all over the country have been enjoying Palmetto’s whiskeys, moonshines, and other pantry products by purchasing online for years.

On a recent episode of Remarkable Radio WCKG AM/FM Chicago with Mark Imperial, J Maggio, Top Producing Realtor with Conlon Real Estate, discussed upgrading or moving from the city to the suburbs.

According to Maggio, folks wanting to move from the city to the suburbs have great choices.

Maggio, said “For many people that don’t want to leave the city – they have a struggle – they still want to have an urban or downtown type atmosphere. For a lot of my clients, we target neighborhoods like Downers Grove, Hinsdale, Clarendon Hills, right along the train tracks. You still get that quaint little downtown, with walkable sidewalks – all that fun stuff for the kids and that keeps the everyone happy.”

When host Mark Imperial asked about challenges they face Maggio answered, “I think there’s a perception that in the suburbs, you can get any amount of space you want for whatever your budget. There’s always sticker shock. A lot of these suburbs are just as is desirable some of the hottest neighbors in the city right now. So I think managing the expectation of ‘what is your top priority; is it the proximity to the train; is it the school district specifically’. Is it the type of house; how new it is; the finishes. A lot of these homes that are older need work, and how much work does somebody want to put into it. And I think just navigating them through that process – taxes, and how far they are going to go as far as how much more do you want to spend in some areas on taxes, and are the schools that much better. Just weighing those back and forth in helping people ultimately land on the right spot.”

During the Interview Maggio shared how online home shopping can leave you in the dark with many variables, explaining, “What they need is an advocate, a consultant if you will, that’s going be able to guide them through the process and understand if this a smart choice. Like, what are the things that I should be concerned with and what are the negatives? Here’s why this price seem too low – why is this price higher. My business has turned more into ‘Hey, here’s five properties that we’re thinking about. Can you give us your feedback and if it passes your test, we’d like to go see them.’ And that’s great and I think it’s a testament to how long I’ve been doing this and how my expertise is just knowing homes and understanding where the pitfalls are going to be, from a resale standpoint and things of that nature.”

Early January is a big sales season for Intuit Software’s flagship product, QuickBooks. That’s because the new year is the perfect time for small business owners to purchase, set up and begin using the world’s most popular accounting software.

But making the decision to invest $199 in building your company’s future is the easy part. Two big steps remain:

1. Deciding which version of QuickBooks to buy

2. Getting your new system set up quickly and correctly

Fortunately, small business owners looking to buy and begin using QuickBooks in January 2018 have an advantage that earlier purchasers did not: Jason Osser’s free training videos.

In addition to being an accountant and entrepreneur, Jason Osser, CPA is also the author of the upcoming book, Riding QuickBooks To The Promised Land, How The World’s Most Successful Entrepreneurs Use The World’s Most Popular Accounting Software To Make More Money In Less Time.

There is also an older Macintosh version which is being phased out. Next comes the question of whether to buy a full license with three years of support or a subscription which offers ongoing updates. There is a lot to think about.

On a recent episode of The Inside Track on Business Innovators Radio with Markus Loving, Adam Miller, Passport Software’s ACA Product Manager, discussed Demystifying the Affordable Care Act Compliance and Reporting For Business Owners.

According to Miller, The ACA has put some of these small to medium businesses in a really tough spot and it’s not just a burden of providing coverage to employees, it’s all the ACA reporting and tracking requirements.

Miller, said “The Affordable Care Act is really a different animal. HR professionals weren’t trained for this, nor were accountants or lawyers; the ACA doesn’t fit neatly into any of those areas and it’s not always intuitive”.

When host Markus Loving asked how do you help them to navigate this giant Affordable Care Act reporting puzzle? Miller answered, “One of the biggest misconceptions is that ACA reporting is an accounting process when it’s actually closer to a record-keeping process. Yes, there are accounting aspects of it and the responsibility typically falls in the lap of an accountant or an HR administrator, but this is about having very specific legal knowledge, applying it to a staff with frequently changing circumstances and recording all those details on a monthly basis”.

During the Interview Miller was asked, what would you say is one of the biggest pitfalls that businesses may not be aware of? He went on to explain, “They’re probably not aware of the common ownership issue and that’s where the law says if you own multiple businesses and an employee works for more than one, their hours must be combined for the purposes of identifying them as a full-time or part-time employee”.

You’ll see a link to the IRS where you can download the PDF. It’s a 19 page manifesto. Then go grab a double from Starbucks because it reads like you would expect anything from the IRS to read. And if you’re able to get through it, at least you’ll have an idea of what’s ahead of you.”

Miller finished off by saying, “And if you do get overwhelmed, call a professional… an ACA specialist. Not an accountant, not a shrink though you may need one of them too. But an ACA expert who will know the questions to ask and the best course to take”.
