The assays reduce the time a surgeon must wait from hours to minutes for clinical interpretation of the tissue staining pattern often eliminating subsequent follow up visits and surgery.

The ihcDirect CK8/18 is intended for laboratory use in the detection of the Cytokeratin 8 & 18 protein in frozen or formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded neoplastic tissues. The assay kit utilizes labeled mouse anti-human cytokeratin 8/18 antibody (clone C94) and contains sufficient reagent components to test approximately 50 or 100 tissues.

Using our patent pending technology, antibody incubation times are just 3-minutes for frozen tissues.  The technology also reduces the number of test steps when compared to traditional IHC test methods by eliminating the need for secondary antibodies and subsequent wash steps. John Rankins spoke at the Entrepreneurship Student Club at Harvard Business School’s Business Expert Forum recently and shared the stage with Best-Selling Author Suzanne Somers, who recently released “Tox-Sick to Not Sick. “It was an honor to meet Suzanne Somers and to speak at Entrepreneurship Student Club at Harvard Business School’s Business Expert Forum,” Rankins said. He was also honored as Global Business Innovator 

The message he shared with the audience is simple. Life is beautiful, life is unfair, life will knock you down, but life is still beautiful.

“I’ve had challenges all my life and a lot of them haven’t been fair. The second being that life will knock you down. Even though I became a millionaire, I lost everything several times,” Rankins said.

He discovered that the director of his company had stolen everything. He had to leave his country on a boat to Singapore just to go under the radar where he set up a new company because he was blacklisted in his own country.

He did get to buy his mother a house before it happened. 

“That’s why life is not fair. Life will knock you down, but at the end of the day life is beautiful,” he said.

The measure of a man is not determined by his attitude when he’s on top of the world and everything is great,” Rankins said. “It’s determined by how you can rebound when things aren’t going well. It’s having a great attitude and start over. That’s what I was able to do. That’s why I know that life is beautiful.”

Rankins is also helping make life beautiful through his 1,000 smiles campaign. It started seven years ago when he met a young girl with a cleft palate and a cleft lip. Her mouth and face were disfigured.

“When I saw her begging on the street, it brought me to tears. It made me appreciate how much that I have in my life and how grateful I am,” he said.

He created a campaign called One Thousand Smiles, to make a difference in the lives of 1,000 children. So far he has paid for the surgery of 121 children. He donates all the proceeds from the programs the sells online at his website JohnRankins.com as well as his book “Life Mastery Playbook,” to these children and their surgeries.

No Pain, No Gain: Delaying Gratification Now May Help Ensure a Better Financial Future

MCKINNEY, TX – 11 Nov, 2017 – With so many choices for financial planning and so many pulls on our time and money, making sound financial decisions can prove challenging. The right tools and the willingness to wait, may help mitigate that challenge.

There are many choices when it comes to financial planning. From deciding whether and how to invest to selecting the right insurance products to suit one’s needs, choosing the right financial services can seem a daunting task and the stakes are high. One wrong move with one’s money can spell years of financial hardship, so it’s important to know what to do to avoid mistakes from the start.

“People absolutely shouldn’t be rushed into making financial decisions,” says Danny Koh, Principal of Danny Koh Insurance. “Ideally, a planner or insurance agent will ask lots of questions and do their best to create a custom plan. There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to these things.” Indeed, one size cannot fit all since considerations such as occupation, marital status, family size, age, and other personal factors determine what products and solutions work for a particular person. Because of this Koh notes: “It’s really about employing the right strategies more so than using particular products.”

A critical factor in any type of financial planning is being able to see the big picture and understand the long-term-goals. Koh says that because people tend to want to maximize their enjoyment of life and often have a hard time delaying gratification without good cause, transparency is a key factor in helping people meet their goals. “People have to understand what is happening with their money and why,” he continues, “They need to be informed when things are working and when they are not so that they can make the best decisions for themselves.” A key factor in this is asking the right questions, and getting to know a client and what’s important to them in a nuanced and multi-faceted way. As such, the human touch is still an important factor despite the introduction of “robo adviors” and other automated financial planning tools.

In addition to seeing the big picture, it is also important for clients to be smart with their money and to understand how debt works—and doesn’t. Although it is tempting, Koh advises against going into more debt in order to alleviate debt. Quick fixes like high-interest credit cards and home equity loans may help in the short term, but in the long run, most people find themselves worse off after employing these methods. “Credit cards can’t solve the problem, nor can printing more money,” says Koh. “Unfortunately, debt has become a generational problem, and it’s important to set oneself up properly so that the next generation won’t bear the burden of bad financial planning.”

One of the most important factors in securing one’s financial future is the ability to delay gratification, which is often difficult in today’s world. The allure of dinners out, the hottest gadgets, trips, clothing, or other desirable things and the ease of being able to point, click, and spend, translates to many people are living above their means and spending money they don’t have on things they don’t need. Koh notes some clients will hesitate on making life insurance premium payments, all the while spending money on other things. “Insurance and the like aren’t the most fun things to spend money on so of course people will want to spend on other things first,” he adds. Aside from the fun factor, some of the hesitation may stem from clients not understanding the full potential of insurance as a wealth maximization tool. In addition to providing death benefits life insurance has morphed into a much more customizable asset, over time, so consumers are able to create policies that meet their specific desires for the short and longer term. Additionally, because of special tax benefits that can apply to savings through insurance policies, they can positively contribute to a portfolio that maximizes benefit while minimizing risk.  

“At the end of the day, the ability to help clients solve their financial problems is the most important thing,” Koh concludes. Helping them to understand their choices, make the best decisions for themselves, delay gratification when necessary, and utilize those tools that are the best for their circumstances are critical steps in that process.

Ryan McAweeney says Digital Ad Spending Still Overlooked by Small and Medium Businesses in San Diego

SAN DIEGO, CA – 11 Nov, 2017 – While small and medium businesses (SMB) are planning to ramp up their spending on digital ads this year, entrepreneur and marketer Ryan McAweeney says entrepreneurs are still not paying close attention to their online marketing campaigns.

The survey from Borrell and Associates in 2016 revealed that SMBs are acknowledging the importance of online advertising as they shift their spending from the traditional to the digital platforms. Money is always an issue with small entrepreneurs, which is why they hesitate on spending what little they have on advertising.

McAweeney said more than 7 in 10 of survey respondents claimed that they will spend more to advertise on Facebook and other social media to promote a product or service. “One reason is their good experience with social media as the digital ad platform. In fact, 9 in 10 of those surveyed reported that their marketing campaign on Facebook was very effective,” he said.

The digital marketing ad spending in the US is expected to grow almost $120 million by 2021, which is about three times the $40 billion in 2014. “Of course, the intent is very different from what’s happening on the ground,” he said. “The awareness level is there but there’s a huge gap between knowing and doing, which keeps SMB from really focusing on their digital marketing campaigns.”

He said there’s a lot that San Diego has to offer, particularly for startups. In fact, he cited the “Innovation that Matters 2017” report from the US Chamber of Commerce which recognized the city as the fourth best place if you are a startup. The city has been consistently ranked high in the list. Last year, it sat at fifth place.

San Diego scored high in the following categories: financial resources, number of startups, talent pool, connectivity, industry specialization and regulatory environment. “People always think of successful startups as synonymous to Silicon Valley but San Diego is a rising digital hub because of its relatively cheaper office rent, connectivity and better standards of living compared to Silicon Valley,” he said.

“It’s almost criminal how technopreneurs are not paying enough attention to San Diego,” McAweeney said. “We digital influencers are also partly to blame because we are not using our own resources and skills to bring the word out.”

McAweeney said, “SMBs should be here and we have the digital infrastructure and the know-how to help them in their online marketing campaigns.”

He said SMB should be taking advantage of hyperlocal advertising especially in a relatively small community like San Diego. Aside from an aggressive social media campaign, making use of community newspapers and magazines, posters, billboards, bus stop ads and out-of-home advertising are just some of the few examples of marketing tools for small and medium businesses. “They don’t really have to spend that much in the hyperlocal ad, which makes it a good choice especially if money is an issue.”

During the Interview, Mr. Millington shared what he has seen as the biggest concern his clients face, explaining, “It’s often difficult to segregate the headline news from what’s actually happening in the economy. Headline news is constantly coming at you, and most of the time the news is trying to grab your attention by feeding into your fears. Feeding into the fears leads people to be concerned about whether or not it’s appropriate to stay invested. The interview concluded with Mr. Millington discussing the misconception that age should be the primary driving factor for determining how your portfolio is allocated.  “You hear people get focused on their age, and their age becomes their basis for determining asset allocation. What we see time and time again is that it is probably more important for people to not necessarily focus on their age, but understand their own personal financial situation.”  He recommends you get a clear understanding of what your living expenses will be and compare that to your sources of retirement income, this will help you to determine how much you will need to depend on your portfolio, to satisfy your anticipated living expenses.  He emphasized, “It’s not how old you are. According to DeCubellis D.C., it is important to find the root cause of pain so with proper treatment, the pain won’t come back.

DeCubellis D.C., said “What we do is we try to treat the problems not the symptoms. What that means is that if someone comes in with pain, we want to figure out why they’re in pain. What we don’t want, is to do a treatment or two, pain starts to get better, then it comes back, and we don’t have an explanation for why. So we get to the root cause right away. We fix the cause of the pain and we’re confident that it is not going to come back. We do a lot of specialized testing to get to the root cause. X-rays, orthopedic tests, range of motion tests — but it really depends on the patient’s history and what brought them in. ”.

When host Mark Imperial asked what are the most common ailments he sees in his office, DeCubellis D.C. answered, “You know, the two biggest things we see are neck and back pain. We also see quite a bit of Headaches, carpal tunnel and joint issues as well. The best advice I can give is: if you have a pain somewhere in the neck or back, a headache, or pain elsewhere and it’s persisted for more than a couple of days—If it hasn’t gone away by now, it’s not going to go away. What we do is we try to figure out what is the best way we can work with you. Unfortunately we can’t help everyone. Sometimes people have waited too long and it’s become more serious. This is why we work with other doctors in the area — Neurologists, Orthopedic surgeons– and we can make sure patients get the best help. The best advice I can give is: it’s always better to get things checked out sooner rather than later. The longer it’s there, the longer it takes to get rid of, but the more chance for other complications to arise as well. The sooner the better”.

During the Interview DeCubellis D.C. shared when to see a Chiropractor or a Doctor, explaining, “Over 80 percent of all the hospital visits in this country are from neck and back pain. And the problem with that is that if you go into hospital with back pain and they find out that it’s not an emergency, they really don’t have much to offer you except medication! And even if those medications help, they’re going to wear off at some point. They don’t fix anything, they just kind of help you get out of that initial phase of healing. Because what happens is, any time you have pain, or you have an injury, your body goes through three specific phases of healing: Your body goes through the inflammation phase; the repair phase; and the remodel phase. Now the inflammation phase is only supposed to last a couple of days. During that phase, that’s when you get your anti-inflammatories, you might get some pain medication, and you use ice, because your body is basically just in panic mode and we’re trying to calm that down. The repair phase is where the actual healing happens. That’s when your body is producing new collagen. It’s unfortunately using scar tissue first. That’s what immature collagen is, scar tissue. The only way to have it mature and not stay as scar tissue is to restore the normal motion or movement of the injured area. This is why it is vital to see the right kind of Dr at the right time. MD’s are great during the inflammation phase. When patients have really bad pain, and they go to their M.D.  or their primary care Doctor. They’ll get an anti-inflammatory, maybe they get some pain meds for a week or two, and then they come see us because there’s no one who can fill in that void in the repair phase except for the chiropractors. And it really takes someone who knows what they’re doing. There’s a specific type of treatment you’ve got to do at different levels. But also, you’ve got to test along the way. We can’t just be having patients come in doing things and saying we’ll just see in a couple of weeks and hope you get better. We’ve got to monitor along the way, because we want to make sure we get the best possible outcome, and can prove the improvement. And if we’re not, that’s when you go to Plan B, Plan C, plan D”.

During the Interview Benarosch shared a common misconception, explaining, “Well, I think people will hear of a buzz word like Botox — the word Botox can be sometimes taboo. There’s like a false stigma to it. So I think with Botox what you have to understand is, it’s not permanent. It only lasts three to four months. The good and the bad news — the good news is if you hate it, it goes away in three to four months. The bad news is, if you love it, it goes away in three to four months”.
