LST will be running the 40-hour course in 2016 at several of its hospital partner facilities around the NY tri-state region: Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla, NY, February 26 – March 1; Virtua Hospital, Voorhees, NJ, April 14-18; Nassau University Medical Center, East Meadow, NY, September 23-27.

The accredited courses are aimed at physicians and allied health professionals, though participation is open to all. The LST course meets the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS)-mandated educational guidelines for hyperbaric education; it provides the foundation for Medical Doctors (MD), Doctors of Orthopedics (DO), Doctors of Podiatric Medicine (DPM), Doctors of Philosophy (PhD), Physician Assistants (PA), Nurse Practitioners (NP), Bachelor of Science/Nursing, Registered Nurses (RN), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRT), Paramedics (EMT-P), Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT), Hyperbaric Technicians (HT), and other clinical professional who are either working in, or planning to enter, the field of Hyperbaric Medicine. The course is a pathway toward achieving professional certification in this growing field. Currently, in the United States, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services approve hyperbaric treatment for fifteen (15) medical indications. Most commercial insurance carriers follow CMS guidelines for hyperbaric treatment reimbursement.

Medical Doctors and Doctors of Orthopedics who attend and participate in the entire course are awarded 40 AMA, PRA CATEGORY 1 Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits, which are granted by the UHMS. Allied health professionals (including DPM, PhD, NP, PA, Paramedic, EMT, RN, LPN, RT, and RRT) who attend and participate in the entire course are awarded 40 Continuing Education Units, which are granted by the NBDHMT.

DPM, NP and PA degree holders who need CMEs can present their Certification Boards with a Letter of Attendance granted by the UHMS.

The first LST course was developed in partnership with the late Eric P. Kindwall, M.D., author/editor of several prominent books, including Hyperbaric Medicine Procedures: The Kindwall HBO Handbook, first published in 1970 and now in its ninth edition, and Hyperbaric Medicine Practice (Eric P Kindwall, MD, and Harry T Whelan, MD, eds.), now in its 3rd edition, that continue to be used for medical training. Considered by many to be the “Father of Hyperbaric Medicine,” Dr. Kindwall was LST’s original Course Director.

Hyperbaric Medical treatment involves putting a patient in a specially designed pressure vessel known as a hyperbaric chamber that can be pressurized greater than atmospheric pressure. The patient breathes 100% oxygen while under increased pressure. Monoplace hyperbaric chambers are the most common and are designed to treat one patient at a time. Multiplace chambers are purpose-built and can accommodate as many patients as they are built for. Hyperbaric chamber construction standards are established and published by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Pressure Vessel for Human Occupancy (PVHO) Committee. Standards for in-hospital use of high-pressure oxygen and other gases — and for all aspects of safety regarding in-hospital use of hyperbaric chambers – are covered by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) in their manual titled “NPFA-99: Health Care Facilities Code”.

Pro Coders are in demand, and 4Geeks Academy has announced the launch of their Coding Bootcamp in Miami. They have a free and open intro of 2-weeks working with students where they will create their first website and learn HTML and CSS. The first course is 14-weeks in duration and starts on March 14th in midtown Miami, if people apply before Feb 14th, they will get a 20% discount on tuition.

4Geeks Academy was one of the first coding bootcamps in Latin-America, born in 2014 out of the necessity of software developers for 4Geeks, in the words of Alejandro Sanchez, the company CEO: “Like other 4Geeks leaders, I started coding very young and have been teaching how to code since college, that is why we thought maybe we’re going to be good at this and decided to start the bootcamp”. 4Geeks is a software development company with a community of more than 2000 developers that has delivered more than 250 projects in 6 years operations, the academy has now more than 80 graduates, with 98% of them already hired and working as software developers in different companies around the world.

Republican Dropouts Create Problems for Clinton Support Group

NEW YORK, NY – Jan 20, 2016 – When Hillary Clinton grassroots support organization Sisterhood of the Pantsuit first created their “Hillary Trumps Them All” button collection, they never envisioned the problems they’d have with Republican dropouts.

Republicans are dropping out faster than they can get the new buttons on the market.

The red white and blue pins carry the first names of all 17 of Hillary’s original Republican challengers with an in-your-face knock at them that states, “Hillary Trumps Them All!”

In an apparent snub at Trump’s less than successful rivals, five of the Republicans who’ve dropped out of the race so far – Scott, Bobby, Rick (Perry), Lindsay and now George – have been unceremoniously crossed out on the second edition of the Hillary 2016 buttons.

Or should we say the 4th edition of the Hillary Trumps Them All buttons, since two earlier versions had to be scrapped due to Republican candidates quitting the race faster than the Hillary Clinton support group could produce them.

In mid November, Sisterhood of the Pantsuit was set to issue their second “Hillary Trumps Them All” buttons when Rick Perry and Scott Walker quit the campaign.

Then on November 17, Bobby Jindal dropped out.

More new pins were to be produced right before Christmas with Rick Perry, Scott Walker and Bobby Jindal’s names crossed out on the buttons. Then, Lindsey Graham quit the pack on December 21, followed eight days later by George Pataki’s exit.

“Hillary supporters are asking for the new versions featuring Republican drop-outs faster than we can make them,” added a spokeswoman for Sisterhood of the Pantsuit.

Of course, Sisterhood of the Pantsuit accepts the apparent problems with the humor they’ve been known for. The campaign watches the election memorabilia company made for Barack Obama in 2008 were “Guaranteed to be more accurate than George Bush.”

And their most successful political campaign watch in 2012 was “Barack Around the Clock.” That’s just the kind of attitude you’d expect from a company that has been making political memorabilia “since 2000, when Al Gore was elected President.”

Humor aside, this is a serious business for the 15 year-old election memorabilia company. Eight watches created for presidential candidates, including three for President Obama, are in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian Institution.

Park Avenue based New York Designer wins High Art Award at La Biennale de Venice for 2016 Couture Collection

VENICE, ITALY – Jan 20, 2016 – New York based Haute Couture, and Black Tie Gala Dress designer Mialana  Boutte’-deSoleil, known as L deSoleil, of Nolah Elan (.com) Park Ave, and Fox Sports’s 1’s SPEED Channel, made History as one of precious few International  Clothing designers to have creations win the  Best Costumer, and prestigious Very Special Award at La Biennale’, an  Award  normally designated for the worlds top artists. Now, with Boutte’-DeSoleil’ s win, the definition would now include Couture  Fashion Designers. 

Presented with the Very special Award at the Exclusive La Biennale and Swatch Holiday  Finale’ Bal Masque, held at the Palazzo of the Grand Lagoon. Swatch International Creative Director  Carlos, said of L while giving her the Very Special Award, “If you have been around LaBiennale for the last week, you cannot miss our next award recipient, she is a bright light, and soon to be one of the worlds International stars, we now give a very special award to our beautiful, stylish, L,” to which Boutte’-de Soleil  received a standing ovation.

This is LdeSoleil’s 2nd collection for Nolah Elan, which as a design house is known for taking risks with new techniques and technology in her created  presentations of Haute Couture, handsewn, tailored dresses.

The Award winning pieces from the 2016 collection took 3-4 weeks on total, each to sew completely by hand.

“It was so surreal,” says deSoleil, a former covergirl,  major award show red carpet correspondent, and contributing producer to The InsiderTV. “I knew that the traditional Venetian Burano Lace would wow them, but to have the other dresses be so loved, and to feel so  awesome  amongst the world’s premiere artists and win something as special as this. It truly solidifies the dying artistry of us purveyors of  Haute Couture, and confirms what I have always felt: that fashion, when done superbly, is a moving painting, is wearable art.”

De Soleil said she and her  Tailors communicate 24hrs a day  so that her sketches and collages come to life as she envisioms them. La Biennale is the worlds oldest and most prestigious  Art Organzition and High Art Festival, and the parent of hugely successful Art Basel in Miami, which would be considered the poor mans La Biennale. Imagine that!
