COMODO OPENS OFFICE IN SILICON VALLEY

Cybersecurity innovator to leverage new hub location for enterprise product management, product marketing and business development.

CLIFTON, NJ – Jan 13, 2016 – The Comodo organization, a global innovator and developer of cybersecurity solutions, today announced that it has opened its first office in the heart of Silicon Valley, in Santa Clara, California.  The new location will house Comodo’s expanded enterprise product management and product marketing team in the state-of-the-art TechMart building, which neighbors Levi’s Stadium and the Santa Clara Convention Center. 

The new Silicon Valley office will be headed up by John Peterson, who recently joined Comodo as vice president of Enterprise Product Management and Product Marketing with an executive leadership background from Zscaler, Barracuda Networks, Juniper Networks, Websense, Fortinet and others. Peterson has led product innovation as part of a more than 25-year career in the IT and Security space.

“Innovation makes up the very DNA of Comodo – it’s the foundation on which the company was built, and it will continue to be a cornerstone of our IT management and cybersecurity technology,” said Peterson. “It’s a natural fit for Comodo to be in one of the global hotspots for technology innovation, building out our product roadmap.”  

The new Silicon Valley office will focus on product development, roadmap milestones, and product positioning working across the global Comodo network with engineering resources in Turkey, Romania, Ukraine, India, China, Philippines, UK and the United States.  

The new office will also be home to Comodo’s global business development team, led by Vice President of Enterprise Business Development and Emerging Products Paul Jespersen, who joined Comodo earlier in 2015.  That team will lead all global strategic partnerships and alliances, including integrations and OEM agreements, as well as emerging product and channel market development activities, leveraging the proximity of the new office to many of Comodo’s partners. 

“With many of our current and future partners having a presence here in Silicon Valley, we felt it was important to base our business development efforts out of the new office to build on our momentum in the industry,” said Jespersen.

The Department of Anaesthesiology at Hahnemann University Hospital and the Drexel College of Medicine Announce an Enrichment Program for Students at the Hartranft Elementary School in North Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Jan 13, 2016 – The Department of Anaesthesiology at Hahnemann University Hospital and Drexel University College of Medicine  are pleased to announce an enrichment program launching at the Hartranft elementary School in North Philadelphia.

The Philadelphia School District selected the John A. Hartranft elementary school and administrators at the school selected the “class” of students participating. The guest speakers and students from grades 5 and 6, will meet each week throughout the school year.

MDs and staff from the Anaesthesia Department will present a topic to the students that will enrich and broaden their horizons. There are no constraints on the subject matter or the format of the presentation which may conceivably include, lectures, discussions, demonstrations or hands on activities. The topics range from health related themes to exposure to foreign customs and cultures.

The first presentation will be conducted by Dr. Paul Langevin will focus on what someone might expect if they have to come to the hospital. The hospital environment is foreign to most people and the first incursion into that can be apprehensive for anyone but especially for children. The presentation will involve a demonstration of the monitors and things that are attached to patients which can be frightening to children and adolescents.  Dr. Langevin will also share his educational road to becoming a physician. The second presentation will be description of life in a Nigerian tribe and the transition from that to a physician in Philadelphia, PA. A transition made by Dr. Odenigbo, one of the faculty.

The importance of this program is not the content but rather the exposure to a group of physician/educators, many of whom came from backgrounds not entirely dissimilar from those of the students. The ultimate goal of the program is to acquaint students with alternative paths they may choose in life and make them aware that there are real ways to achieve them while they are still at an impressionable age. The Doctors want to impress upon the students that success is possible no matter who you are or where you come from.

The faculty in the Department of Anaesthesiology feels a deep sense of commitment to the community. We see the products of the environment that these children grow up in every day. It occurred to us that we just might be able to make a difference for some of these kids just by engaging them and mentoring them and so we strive to change the future even slightly one child at a time. 

Education is fundamental in this process and education must exceed typical subject matter. Instruction must include exposure to peoples from different backgrounds and foster a sense of a community beyond north Philadelphia, one that nurtures development and achievement. To the extent that we improve the future of even one child, we all benefit. So we influence the future, one child at a time. It costs nothing, except a little time,” Michael Green, D.O, Chair and Program Director Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine, Associate Professor, Drexel University College of Medicine, Hahnemann University Hospital.

Objectives:

1. Enrichment – to offer greater enlightenment  in the arts, literature, science and culture to disadvantaged students

2. Exposure – provide awareness of activities and opportunities perhaps obscured in their environment

3. Support – create the understanding that individuals outside their community have a genuine interest in them and their ultimate success

4. Mentor – guide, direct and assist students in accomplishing their goals

5. Funding – remove the burden of financing classroom activities from teachers


“This program costs nothing and is specifically aimed at generating interest, encouragement and support for the individual student. We believe that close, repetitive, interaction with children at an impressionable age, can redirect them and profoundly affect them. Changing the future of disadvantaged children must be directed at education and through educational opportunities that lead to an alternative life, a better life. Nothing is perfect but if we can promote one even child, our efforts will have been worth it,
” stated Dr. Paul Langevin, Director of Cardio Thoracic Anaesthesia, Hahnemann University Hospital, Associate Professor Anaesthesiology and Biomedical Engineering Drexel University.

Jan 13, 2016 – At a lecture sponsored by Purely Triton, a maker of personal massagers, in Boston, Massachusetts, a doctor widely known for his research into sports injuries delivered his latest findings on methods of healing muscle wounds. Dr. Humphrey Johnson of the Institute for Preventative Healing, based in Pasadena, California, presented to the members of the American Association of Sports Chiropractors his recommendations of the use of handheld electric massagers by field athletes after strenous training. He stated that the common shortcomings of large cord operated massagers was the ability to stimulate only the area in proximity to the massager head, causing uneven blood circulation in the body. The best massagers, he said, were those with omnidirectional heads which could distribute the effects of the vibration evenly.

In answering a question posed by a local journalist, he is quoted as saying “I have been approached by various makers of massagers to test and give a seal of approval as to their effectiveness on sore muscles, and I find that many fail to live up to their promises. If they are to deliver benefits similar to manual massaging, they must be able to penetrate a large area of muscle tissue and do so evenly.”

After Dr. Johnson’s presentation, Jean Simpson, sales manager for Purely Triton Limited announced the company’s new product range using an audiovisual presentation before the very same audience. Before and After sending letters to Members of Congress in the United States of America to help a non-profit, the Princess of York Jessica decided to visit Washington D.C. to help.

The Governor of Nevada Brian Sandoval last year help to provide funds in the sum of $2 Million for the children of Nevada and has proven he supports No Kid Hungry.

And Governor Brian Sandoval really received a message about Education and Health from Princess Jessica Carol White of York.

Also, the Duchess Camilla of Cornwall has taken time to sit with children in an Educational place of Art.

Princess Jessica of York selected UNICEF to give back to thus helping children around the world. And over time, Princess Jessica Carol White has supported Susan G. Komen and Variety International and more.

Orphans is another non-profit Princess Jessica Carol White of York is looking into directly helping in some way.

And Another Non-Profit helping the endangered species including Elephants in Taiwan is another effort expressed and shared overtime.

Plus, once a year she might donate to a local charity in Las Vegas, and last year donated around Christmas time.

Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley have helped the World Food Bank. And this group Florida Georgia Line (FGL) have also along with other country performers helped Outnumber Hunger.

FGL also participated in helping other food banks giving back in a way that truly matters and it is an attractive quality to the Princess Jessica of York.  

Alacrity Heart will be later on in England and Princess Jessica of York will continue helping hearts to remain healthy around the world.

Does your Pool Tile have Calcium Buildup?

It is very crucial to understand several factors that can contribute to the calcium buildup in your swimming pool.
The swimming pool is one part of the house that is particularly useful in the hot summer months.

Unfortunately, over time calcium scales can start to build up on your swimming pool tiles especially if you have neglected to keep it in tiptop shape.

Understanding the Water in your Pool

It is very crucial to understand several factors that can contribute to the calcium buildup in your swimming pool. There are five factors that work together to bring about water quality that is excellent for swimming. These are filtration, pH level, chlorination, calcium hardness, and total alkalinity.

Filtration removes larger debris and particles from the water while chlorination will disinfect and render harmless any microorganisms that may be present in the water. The pH level of the water in your swimming pool indicates whether it is acidic or alkaline. The recommended pH level for swimming pool water is between 7.0 and 7.6. If the pH level goes beyond 7.6 you risk developing skin rashes as the water will be alkaline. If you have a pH level of less than 7.0 you risk getting stings in your eyes and other mucous membranes as the water will be acidic. The pH levels of your swimming pool water is directly related to the overall alkalinity of the water.

The last factor is calcium hardness which technically accounts for the amount of calcium that is dissolved in your swimming pool water. If there is too little calcium levels in the water, the different surfaces in your pool such as your tiles will easily deteriorate, meaning, they have highly corrosive tendencies. However, if there is too much calcium dissolved in water, this can lead to scaling or the build-up of calcium deposits.

Understanding Calcium Scales

Calcium is naturally found in water. That is why too much of it is called hard water and too little, soft water. In your swimming pool, calcium must be maintained at a relatively safe range of between 80 and 150 parts per million (ppm) for vinyl swimming pools and between 150 and 200 ppm for masonry-finished swimming pools.

One of the factors that can influence elevations in swimming pool water calcium levels is the addition of too much chlorine products that contain calcium hypochlorite. These products can naturally increase the level of calcium already present in swimming pool water to as much as 400 to 500 ppm.

Now, it should be apparent that calcium scales are brought about by excessively higher concentrations of calcium in the swimming pool water. It also goes without saying that anything that can increase calcium levels can also increase calcium hardness and thus lead to greater scaling. However, pH and alkalinity can also contribute to scaling. In general, a pH level of not less than 7.8 and an alkalinity level of not less than 120 can all lead to scale formation.

This simply means that the scaling your find in your swimming pool tiles may not only be caused by the overall hardness of the water but also an abnormally high level of pH and subsequent alkalinity.

Removing Calcium Scales Off your Swimming Pool Tiles

There are plenty of products in the market that can be used to remove calcium scales off swimming pool tiles. If the calcium buildup is light enough, a solution of muriatic acid diluted in water and scrubbed vigorously on tile surfaces with calcium scales has been shown to be quite effective. Depending on the surface of your swimming pool wall, you can try to scrape off the scales by using a putty knife or even a flat-head screwdriver. For best results however, pool cleaning companies can use blasting techniques to remove the calcium scales. Be ready to pay a huge amount, however.

Prevention

Once the calcium scales have been removed, make sure to maintain the quality of your swimming pool water from now on. You now know that water in your swimming pool needs to have the correct levels of pH, alkalinity, chlorine, and calcium in order for you to prevent any future build-up of calcium scales. This is why performing water testing will be crucial to maintain such delicate balance in swimming pool water quality. Water quality testing kits are inexpensive and should provide the backbone to all your swimming pool maintenance needs.

Additionally, you can use pool water magnetizers or magnetic water conditioners in order to help reduce the risk of calcium scale formation and build-up. These products work by rendering water to assume a positive charge as it passes through the return line. Furthermore, chelating products can also help prevent scale buildup.

If the calcium level is high, partially emptying the swimming pool and replacing it with soft water will help maintain acceptable levels of calcium hardness. Also, make sure to test the water’s pH and alkalinity. Remember, the higher the pH and alkalinity, the greater is the likelihood of scale buildup.

So, the next time you use your swimming pool, make sure to clean it afterwards and check whether there are any changes in its water quality.

3D Horizons – The Evolution of the Desktop Announced

Allows users to interact with their files and applications in an entirely new way!

CHICAGO, Illinois – January 14, 2016 – 3D Horizons, recently announced the first step for the evolution of the desktop. It allows users to interact with their files and applications in a completely new way. They are evolving the desktop, taking it into the world of 3D. People won’t need a virtual reality headset to use this product; a simple mouse and screen will do. But if users have an Oculus Rift, or another Virtual Reality headset, the experience will become much more immersive. Imagine users manipulating files and folders using an Oculus Rift, and the Oculus Touch. Or, imagine using the Kinect and interacting with their desktop with their hands, just like in the movies. Their 3D desktop will support themes, a collection of backgrounds, 3D icons, and environmental imagery that creates a unique place for users to work. Using 3D Horizons’ Object Store, users will be able to access new Themes, and 3D objects. 

Users will also be able to organize their files in a completely new way. In 3D, users can actually group those files the way they’d think of them, not just in a flat grid. 3D Horizons are not replacing Microsoft or replacing a user’s old, basic desktop. They will not be changing anything in the current operating system. What they are doing is giving people a new application, which creates a new way to work with their computer. 3D Horizons is simply taking advantage of what exists now. However to finish the project 3D Horizons has launched this Kickstarter campaign. The goal of this project is to raise $600,000 by March 11, 2016. The funds raised will go towards interface design.
