Michael Quinn holds a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology and brings years of experience designing and developing medical devices.  In his previous role as Director of Engineering at HS Design, Mike helped HSD develop several award-winning devices, including HSD’s newest venture, the Sympfiny™ multiparticulate delivery system. Analyzing 15,000+ Sports Bar Visits – Mayweather/McGregor will Bring a Crowd

OMAHA, NE – 25 Aug, 2017 – Sports Bars Expected to see Increased Customer Traffic for Mayweather and McGregor Fight Night. 

2017 NBA Finals = 5% Increase in customer traffic
2017 NHL Finals = 22% Increase in customer traffic
Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Connor McGregor anticipated having record breaking customer traffic for sports bars around the country. 

Gazella Wifi Marketing solution tracks the number of visits to restaurants around the country. Allowing restaurants, cafes, bars, and other small venues to make better marketing decisions, and collect unique customer profiles to keep in touch with their customers keeping them up to date on whats going on at their favorite BBQ joints, coffee shops, and other fine eateries.

The upcoming Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Connor McGregor fight is set to break box office records. The uniqueness of the event is attracting both boxing and UFC fans. The hype has even attracted non-boxing and UFC watchers to join in the fun. Watchers can view the fight on Pay Per View or visit a local sports bar to view the historic fight.

In anticipation of the fight, the Gazella Wifi-Marketing team analyzed just how sporting events affect customer traffic in local sports bars. Pay per view events can attract additional customers as the scarcity of restaurants and sports bars purchasing the events.

After looking at a sample of over 15,000 sports bar visits over the last few months in locations across the United States. (sports bar defined as having 5 or more televisions.)  A few key highlights were shown. For example:

On June 11th, 2017 during the Stanley Cup Finals between the Penguins and the Predators an additional 22% more customers than average made their way to a local sports bar to watch the finals. 

The very next day on June 12th, 2017 the NBA Finals also took place, however many sports bars showed a slight decrease in customer traffic than normal, but did show an uptick in overall Monday traffic by about 5%.

Our team anticipates cities in which the finals took place saw a greater uptick in customer traffic, however for the purposes of the study neutral locations were chosen. 

Interestingly day of week traffic in sports bars throughout the year was relatively unchanged. As most sporting events take place on the weekends or the heavily watched Monday Night Football we anticipated a greater uptick on these days, but data did not indicate a significant change. While a slight increase in visits on the weekends the relatively low change signals diversified offerings from the sports bars such as lunch and weekday specials.

Thursday – 13.43%
Friday – 16.12%
Saturday – 16.43%
Sunday – 15.94%

To purchase the PayPerView McGregor/Mayweather fight in a commercial establishment such as a sports bar is not cheap. The fees are calculated by the capacity of the location. Most estimates show that for a sports bar to purchase the pay per view it will be $30 per person. For example if a sports bar hasana occupancy of 200 (Occupancy determined by Fire Marshall) it would be 200x$30 or $6000 just to air the event in your local sports bar.

It is not unheard of for Sports Bars to be charging a hefty cover. For example “DJ’s Dugout” in Omaha, NE on most nights is a family friendly sports bar, but come fight night their locations are charging a $40 cover just to enter the establishment. It is expected DJ’s Dugout will be at capacity and recommended to arrive early. 

In conclusion, a sports bar with a group of loyal customers willing to spend money on both cover charge and food and drinks, an investment in purchasing the pay per view event will likely return a positive return on investment. However, as sporting events did not show a clear increase in foot traffic across our sample of sports bars proceed with caution.

Dr. Natalie Geary just named Humanitarian of the Year for 2018 by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP).

PALM BEACH, FL – 25 Aug, 2017 – Natalie W. Geary, MD., F.A.A.P, Owner and President of Private Pediatrics of Palm Beach was named “Humanitarian of the Year” for 2018 by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP). 

While inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in itself, only 1 person is selected for the Humanitarian of the Year.  The Humanitarian of the Year is an award that is given for an individual’s outstanding commitment and contributions to society. IAOTP is incredibly honored to be able to recognize Dr. Geary for her philanthropic efforts and dedication.  Dr. Geary is a woman who steps away from her busy Pediatric Office and is a woman who has given selflessly and worked tirelessly to better the lives of others and society at large.  

Dr. Geary is being recognized for this honor for having over three decades of professional experience and for her travels around the world to promote children’s health and to help the underserved populations. She has provided visionary leadership in training and practicing Ayurvedic Medicine and worked in foreign lands for the betterment of the communities. Her expertise is infusing proper nutrition among the youth of the world. 

Dr. Geary will be honored for this achievement at the 2017 IAOTP’s Annual Award Gala being held at the Ritz Carlton Battery Park, NYC.  She will be presented with the Crystal Globe engraved piece for her global travels to do nonprofit work.  For several years Dr. Geary practiced pediatrics in New York City hospitals and then moved to New Mexico (one of the poorest states in America at that time), to work in a hospital-based clinic and she founded a nonprofit organization known as Mobile Pediatrics.  Dr. Geary traveled into small towns of New Mexico to screen children and give them vaccines and she set up portable clinics in schools, post offices and any place where it was possible to serve the children of the area.  When she moved back to NY she opened her practice and travelled to India, Indonesia, Thailand and the Republic of Malawi where she opened a clinic for children orphaned by AIDS.  Being a busy Mother of 3, Doctor, Advocate for children all around the world, and Owner of a very busy practice in NY, Dr. Geary decided to relocate to Miami where she accepted a position as Director of Executive Medicine at the University of Miami’s Miller School of Medicine. 

Stephanie Cirami, President of IAOTP stated, “Choosing Dr. Geary for this honor was an easy decision for our panel to make.  She has devoted her life’s work to better the health and lives of children all over the world and she selflessly gives back with her humanitarian efforts.  She is brilliant, beautiful, bold and she is just the whole package and we are honored to recognize her for her amazing work. Dr. Geary started her studies in the field of medical anthropology at Harvard University, where it was still relatively in its infancy stage.  Modern Medical Anthropology is defined as the study of human health and disease, health care systems and biocultural adaptation.  This study was developed in the 60’s and 70’s and analyzes how culture and society are related to issues of health, health care and related issues.  While studying at Harvard, Dr. Geary did her thesis research on the comparison of the health care beliefs and utilization practices in cancer patients. She received her medical anthropology degree from Harvard University and earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.  From there, she went on to complete her residency at New York University’s Bellevue Hospital Center.

Throughout her illustrious career Dr. Geary has received numerous awards and has been recognized worldwide for her outstanding leadership and her commitment to the profession.  In 2014 she was selected as Professional Woman of the Year by the National Association of Professional Women.  In 2015 she was selected as Pinnacle Professional of the Year by Continental Who’s Who and in 2016 graced the front cover of Inner Circle Executive Magazine.  For 2017 selected as Top Pediatrician of the Year by the International Association of Top Professionals and now selected for the Humanitarian of the Year Award for 2018.  Dr. Geary sits on the Committees of International Health, Child Abuse and Neglect, and Adolescent Health. Dr. Geary also sits on the Board of Directors of the Katie Ford Foundation; Medical Society of NY and Medical Society of Florida.  Dr. Geary is also the founder of charities such as ONCALL4KIDS and she is a former member of the board of directors for Containers 2 Clinics (C2C). 

Aside from her great achievements, accolades and success, Dr. Geary is also an internationally renowned sought after speaker & author.  Often contributing to articles and research, Dr. Geary is regarded as a knowledgeable and respected figure on these topics.
