AUSTIN-SAN ANTONIO, TX – 26 Jul, 2017 – Nearly a decade ago Gene Simmons of KISS tapped Memphis native and Austin folk-rocker favorite Matt McCormack (son-in-law of famed Americana Legend, Alejandro Escovedo) for a recording and writing session that birthed a pop gem titled “Pride,”  which bleeds influential undertones of Paul McCartney and Beck.  Simmons impromptu visit to Austin to meet, write and record with the buzz-worthy McCormack led to an epic session. (KISS fan Matt McCormack randomly sent a CD to Simmons P.O.Box) The duo wrote an infectious pop-rock song and incorporated the musicianship of McCormack’s band.  It was never released due to contractual obligations.

The Simmons+McCormack collaborative masterpiece was thought to be destroyed over 4 years ago in the devastating Onion Creek Flood In Austin, which claimed the lives of 9 neighbors.  The McCormack family who were trapped in their house and uninsured for flood damage, narrowly escaped the disaster with their lives.  Sadly, all masters and recordings of McCormack’s music were lost…until now.  Tapes of the Simmons+McCormack session were miraculously found in the attic of a relative a few months ago.

“I emailed Gene to get the nod on releasing the song for my upcoming album, “Life In Stereo,” ( release date August 11, 2017) McCormack reports.  The upcoming release of “Life In Stereo” includes contributions from Miranda Lambert’s guitarist Alex Weeden, Austin favorite Will Sexton, SRV songwriter Bill Carter, Eagles and Don Henley keyboardist Mike Thompson and an impressive who’s who of Austin Music royalty.

“Gene soon replied favorably and suggested that he was considering the song for a very special project.  I am not at liberty to discuss…but the names involved in the project are mind blowing. McCormack added “Gene described it to me as a “labor of love for the fans.”  The Texas singer songwriter also revealed,  “There is another song we worked on during that period titled “Lost In Time”.  Gene actually named it.  Gene always kept an open line for me when I had an idea; I really appreciate that aspect of him.  He has a super creative and open mind.”

McCormack hopes to shine a light on the SIMS FOUNDATION in Austin, Tx with this upcoming release.  “SIMS provides doctors, therapy, counseling, mental health care and rehabilitation services for all uninsured Austin Musicians.  They are a unique and amazing charity.  Their blue print should be in every music city in the country.  The doctors and health care providers are top notch. The organization and staff are first class. SIMS saves lives…mine included.

Teaming up with industries ranging from home appliances to fashionwear and everywhere in-between, the coalition has already begun discussions with influential Members of Congress and administration officials on proposals moving forward.

Heading-up the coalition is Paul Miller, executive director of PMANA. “On an annual basis, foreign produced counterfeit products cost U.S. businesses $250 billion and have led to the loss of over 750,000 American jobs and the theft of significant tax revenues.” Miller said.

“Additionally, this is a national security and public safety concern. Since these illegal operations have no regard for safety, their fake products can cause serious or fatal injuries to unsuspecting consumers. This can turn something as simple as drinking a glass of water or a life-changing event like your daughter’s senior prom into catastrophic events, both physically and financially,” Miller added.

The counterfeiting problem has expanded over recent years due to increased purchases of knock-off products from e-commerce sites such as Alibaba. Although these sites perform some level of monitoring for counterfeits, they do not go as far to remove the products from their listings – which deceive consumers into buying them as cheaper alternatives. As a result, American businesses experience a direct loss of sales, goodwill, irreparable damage to their corporate brand, and additional expenditures on protecting and enforcing their property rights.
