San Diego Auto Show to Feature DiMora Vicci 6.2 / Investment Art on Wheels

PALM SPRINGS, CA – Dec 24, 2015 – DiMora Motorcar will be exhibiting one of the stylish, limited-edition DiMora Vicci 6.2 Emperor Convertibles at the San Diego International Auto Show Exotics Vault, December 31, 2015 through January 3, 2016. The distinctive 430-horse power rolling art on wheels is the result of a unique joint collaboration between automotive designer Sir Alfred J. DiMora and equally influential Totemic Energy Artist Master Lee Sun-Don of Taiwan. 

“I love cars and I love art, so I set out to collaborate with world renowned artists to create the first true limited-edition production rolling art. Each artist that I am working with is hand-picked by me,” said DiMora.

Upon purchase of each DiMora Vicci 6.2 Emperor Convertible, the buyer also receives the original one-of-a-kind painting by Zen Master Lee. Each large-scale painting in the Great Treasure Gate series pays artistic homage to the rare door knockers created during the Ming Dynasty (1368 to 1644) by incorporating an actual Ming Dynasty doorknocker into the painting. From that, the skilled artisans at DiMora Motorcar invest no less than 750 man-hours to reproduce the artwork onto the hood and side panels of the car, right down to hand laying 24-karat gold leaf as a final step.

National Prison Consultant John Fuller Urges Policymakers to Revise Nation’s Draconian “Expungement of Criminal Record” Laws

Secaucus, NJ – Dec 24, 2015 – In a recent blog post, renowned prison consultant John Fuller introduced his readers to New Jersey’s Gary Meyer who, while once incarcerated for selling drugs to fuel his gambling addiction, has spent the two decades since his release achieving more than most could dream of. From graduating Magna Cum Laude with a double major from the Wharton School University of Pennsylvania to owning a business, attending Gamblers Anonymous weekly and even volunteering on the boards of multiple organizations – all without a single arrest – Meyer is an exemplary member of the community. But draconian laws refuse to take note of his new life and subsequently expunge his record. Fuller is now taking Meyer’s story public, hoping to reach top-level policy makers and affect bold change.

While it might sound strange, John Fuller would never think of trying to expunge his criminal record. As one of the nation’s most renowned and respected prison consultants, his former dark days and incarceration are the very credentials that have allowed him to change the lives of thousands following in his footsteps. 

But that can’t be said for everyone and, according to Fuller, 90% of reformed former felons in his home state of New Jersey will be forced to see their pasts punish them for the rest of their lives, as can those across the country. 

“I recently received a call from a guy named Gary Meyer, who wanted my help trying to expunge his criminal record. Gary spent some time behind bars over two decades ago for selling drugs to pay for his gambling addiction, and was becoming increasingly frustrated at still being labeled a felon today,” explains Fuller. “When we got talking, I couldn’t believe how Gary has turned his life around.” Continuing, “Gary has been a business owner since 1996, has no rearrests, paid his way and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a double major from the Wharton School University of Pennsylvania, is a past member of the Board of Trustee, previously served as Chair of Intergroup for Gamblers Anonymous, volunteered as a finance and marketing director for a local animal shelter, foster parent for animals and even runs his own cat colony. He is a Kentucky Colonel, church member and even purchased bullet proof vests for a police department in Thailand with his own money to help the Police and has the support of many in New Jersey law enforcement’. But get this, his felon status still means that – twenty-three years after leaving prison – he is unable to leave the country for more than thirty days or conduct his business internationally. It’s a travesty, plain and simple.”  

Current New Jersey legislation allows courts to expunge records for third-degree crimes when the state deems doing so would be in the public’s interests. But, even though second and third- degree crimes share the same prison sentence through statutes, no current legislation exists to expunge the records of second degree felons such as Meyers.

“There is a fundamental bias in laws across the United States regarding expungement of records. For example, at home in New Jersey, Governor Christie has done little to assist those who have been convicted decades ago. But we also have to look beyond Gary’s isolated case; our draconian laws impact people of all races who have not had any further arrests for decades, whose original crimes were not violent and who have done more for their community since their release from prison than most non-felons could do in their lifetime. It’s time things changed, and I’m asking the public to sign Gary’s official petition for the expungement of his record.” 

Numerous public figures have come out to support the campaign for Meyer’s pardon. NAACP 1st Vice President Chapter, Keith Benson, recently commented, “Gary Meyer has the unmitigated support of the NAACP regarding his motion to be pardoned and we are willing to do whatever we can to help him prevail.” Benson further stated, “Everything Gary has done for the African American Community over the years is in complete harmony with our agenda since its founding in 1909.” 

Meyer also has the support of former Gloucester County Prosecutor, now State Associate Parole Board, Lloyd Henderson, who agrees that the existing law to make second degree drug crimes expungable in the State of New Jersey. Gary happens to be Caucasian American.

3 Tips on Surviving Your First Holidays with Kids After Divorce

The holidays can be a challenging time for people coping with a recent divorce.  Although you may be dealing with difficult emotions, it is possible to still enjoy this time and to continue to create happy memories for yourself and your children.

Here are some things you can do to help keep your holiday cheer:

1)  Create a Support Network
Relationship and Parenting expert Dr. Wendy Walsh recommends reaching out to others that might be experiencing similar pain and celebrating together.  

She consoles, “It’s okay in the holidays to feel sad. You don’t have to have forced joy. But it’s also important not to wallow in it.  If you focus it on somebody who is experiencing the same pain, and you console and give to them… you’re consoling yourself at the same time.”

2)  Make New Holiday Traditions
You cannot keep all of the same holiday rituals, so use this time as an opportunity to add fun new ones!  Let your kids be involved in creating new traditions.  It will mean more to them if you give them some ownership over new holiday celebrations.  They will be more invested and feel proud of their contribution. 

 “Enjoy the moment you are in instead of thinking about the past. You may end up creating a tradition which becomes a beloved holiday event,” says mom and blogger Karie Boyd. 

3)  Treat Yourself

Take advantage of alone time to do something special that you might not normally do.  Treat yourself to a spa day, a fancy dinner with a friend, or a nature hike followed by a hot bath. 

Don’t forget to also take care of your needs.  This means getting enough sleep, eating well and getting exercise.  When you take care of your physical and emotionally needs, you will feel better and more grounded which will give you the strength to deal with holiday stress and the patience to be a better parent.

From the small indie company in Atlanta, Georgia, Mad Labyrinth Studios, comes a counter tower defense, TREE HUGGER.

The small team recently hit Kickstarter to raise awareness for the game and gather funding and support for their game, TREE HUGGER.  For those who love Tower Defense games or strategy games, or just want to join the fight against corrupt kings, come out and support them.

The game creators wanted to take what people tend to dislike about Tower Defense games and fix it.  The number one complaint they found in polling and surveys was that, in the typical tower defense, the player didn’t like that you had nothing to do but sit back for large periods of time. TREE HUGGER‘s intention is to make you immerse yourself into the game and really have something that you can be doing at all times, if you want to. 

The game itself really revolves around strategy, but the creators didn’t want it to only be beatable one way, so  they’ve implemented all sorts of systems to let you play the way you want to, while still leaving the game a fun challenge.  

The kickstarter campaign will feature vast information about the game as well as videos, screenshots, and sneak peeks. The game is planned to be released on STEAM at a $20 price point in Quarter 2 of next year (2016).

DENVER, CO – Dec 28, 2015 – As many retirement-age Americans start to tap into the money they’ve been saving for decades, a retirement income strategy is catching on with people who want to keep working for the creative enjoyment of it while relying on a source of monthly income that can last a lifetime.

The strategy uses fixed index annuities, which do not directly participate in a given index. Rather, interest credited to the contract principal is based off of the performance of an index, such as the S&P 500, and that principal is protected from market losses. More U.S. consumers who are concerned about generating reliable interest credits in the current low-interest, volatile market climate are turning to fixed index annuities that pay out lifetime income.

Sales of fixed index annuities have surged 45.5% since 2011, growing to $48 billion in net cash inflows nationwide from $33 billion, financial research firm Cerulli Associates stated in its ninth annual “Annuities and Insurance” report, published this November. Variable annuity sales are almost triple those of fixed index annuities, but the gap has been narrowing in recent years.

According to financial advisor and insurance professional Colin Richards, president of Denver-based Lord and Richards, Inc., creative and active people who fully intend to work as they grow older are attracted to fixed index annuities because they provide an income stream backed by the financial strength and claims-paying ability of the issuing insurer, while freeing them up to focus on the work they truly enjoy.

He pointed to the range of professionals in his practice, from pre-retirement baby boomers with longtime careers to entrepreneurial millennials with small businesses, who have added fixed index annuities to their retirement income strategies because their monthly income functions similarly to a paycheck.

“I have a client who’s had a successful career as an accountant, and he is now in his early sixties. He wanted to remain active but stepped away from his full-time job because he was drained, burnt-out and ready for a change,” Richards said. “Now he’s officially retired and having fun – and actually earning even more as a consultant within his industry – and enjoying the financial independence that the fixed index annuity’s income stream gives him.”

Fixed index annuities (FIAs) are insurance products that provide interest credited to the contract’s principal either as determined by the insurance company selling the product or by the calculation of positive gains in a market index, according to the National Association for Fixed Annuities.

FIAs guarantee protection of principal and have no market risk because the owners of these annuities do not participate in the underlying markets upon which the annuity interest performance is based.

Insurance and finance professors David Babbel, of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and Craig Merrill, of the Marriott School of Management at Brigham Young University, argue the case in favor of utilizing annuities as a part of one’s retirement income strategy in “Investing Your Lump Sum at Retirement,” published as a Wharton policy brief in 2007.

Investors who place their retirement assets in mutual funds, stocks, bonds or the money market are subject to greater market risk, Babbel and Merrill say.

“The economic models of rational behavior, which weigh the riskiness of outcomes against a person’s tolerance for risk, all show that equities are not substitutes for annuities, because they do not address the major risk we face of outliving our assets,” the authors write.

The public distrust of annuities is based on “common myths” that they cost too much and don’t address health-care or inflation issues, the professors assert. But, they write, the market for annuities has become competitive in recent years, with price markups coming down from around 6%-10% to less than half that level from top companies and approaching zero in some cases.

• Based on art direction from the interactive art director and specifications from the project manager, create graphical user interface designs and front-end HTML5/CSS3 for responsive websites (multiple grids), email marketing, and online games.

• Work with our back-end PHP programmers to have your front-end HTML/CSS implemented using on our various PHP based CMS systems.

• Be a self-starter, have high standards, and be able to work independently and on a team to meet deadlines, even if requiring extended work hours.

Experience Required

• A portfolio of responsive websites you have designed and/or developed (include links to your responsive sites or online portfolio).

• Experience coding HTML5/CSS3 (ideally designing in the browser).

• Experience coding JavaScript and using JQuery.

• Experience with PRESTASHOP

Strong Plusses (but not required)

• Understanding of industry best practices for website usability.

• Experience implementing themes for WordPress or Drupal 7.

• Experience coding back-end PHP, SQL, and creating CMS systems.

Location
