“Right now, we have to make the choice to not bring our son, to try and fit him into a cart that’s too small or to navigate the busy store with both a cart and an adaptive stroller,” says mother Hannah Ash, whose 5 year old son is on the autism spectrum. “For a company like Whole Foods, that has built its business atop progressive values, it’s unacceptable they don’t offer a cart that accommodates children and adults with special needs.”

Ash points out that retailers such as Target are currently offering Caroline’s Carts,a shopping cart created for special needs children. According to the company website, Caroline’s Carts ‘provide parents and caregivers a viable option to transport a child through a store while grocery shopping, without having the impossible task of having to maneuver a wheelchair and a traditional grocery cart at the same time. It is named after Caroline, the special needs daughter of Drew Ann and David Long.’

“It’s 2017 and to me, this is an easy one. Special needs families have long supported Whole Foods for their selection of organic food and vitamins,” Ash says. “It’s time for Whole Foods to support us.”

Propanc announced the completion of the low dose group for the GLP-Compliant 28-day repeat-dose toxicity study for its lead product PRP, a solution for once daily intravenous administration of pancreatic proenzymes trypsinogen and chymotrypsinogen.

This is a crucial stage for testing new drugs as this stage tests the drug for both safety and efficacy. “We are very pleased to have successfully completed the first stage of our 28-day study,” said James Nathanielsz, Propanc’s Chief Executive Officer. “There were no clinical observations, nor any adverse effects observed from any of the animals and, in fact, all animals gained body weight within the expected range.”

FIRST-IN-MAN STUDIES EXPECTED FOR PPCH

No treatment related effects were observed in the animals in the study and the once-daily dosing by IV injection was successfully accomplished. Results from the study help provide a rationale for a safe starting dose for first-in-man studies targeted late 2017, or early 2018, depending on successful completion of manufacture of the investigational new drug (IND).

The biotech sector is beginning to see a comeback after suffering a decline due to drug pricing issues raised during the U.S. Presidential election.
