VISTA, CA – 14 Mar, 2017 – A recent third-party study conducted at Optical Reference Laboratory compared tubing reflectivity among three leading brands of tubular daylighting device (TDD) systems. The study measured reflectivity of materials used in daylighting systems in the human vision range (light we can see), near infrared (NIR) range (what we experience as heat) and the potentially harmful UV range (that can cause discoloring and fading of materials and surfaces).

In the category of human vision range, Solatube® International scored the highest for specular (mirror-like) reflectivity at three different incidence angles (representing different angles of the sun): 8, 40 and 60 degrees. For example, at the 8-degree incidence/sun angle, the Spectralight Infinity with Cool Tube Technology product from Solatube reflected an average of 99.58% of the visible light, versus the two other brands which reflected 93.8% and 90.82%, respectively. The human vision range is what drives how we see and perceive our environments and is the desirable type of light that we wish to bring into our homes and businesses.

Overall, for a typical 10-foot TDD application, early-morning daylight entering a tube at an 8-degree incidence angle may make 56 bounces before exiting at the ceiling diffuser. As a result, seemingly small differences in specular reflectance can have enormous impacts on daylighting potential, especially when our bodies crave daylight to go along with our morning coffee. In this early morning daylight case, Solatube’s output/performance was 400 percent better than brand A and 20,000 percent better than brand B.

Conversely, in the UV and NIR ranges, Solatube International reflected less of the undesirable types of light. At the 8-degree incidence angle, Spectralight Infinity produced an average specular reflectance of 27.17% in the UV range, versus the other brands which reflected an average of 34.35 and 46.28%. At an 8-degree sun angle for the NIR range, Solatube produced an average specular reflectance of only 24.88% with each bounce, versus 96.98 and 90.67% for the other two brands. Solatube products also filter out 100% of UV rays at the dome level, removing the harmful UV rays even before they enter the Spectralight Infinity Tubing system.

The study concluded that Solatube’s Spectralight Infinity gave superior performance in several ways, compared to the other brands that were tested. The Solatube product delivers more of the daylight that lights up an interior space and less of the light that can create heat gain or sun damage.

UK – New study suggests that mortgage repossessions in the UK are likely to drop to an all-time low of 6500-7500 repossessions in light of low interest rates and stable economic conditions. This comes after 2016 was the year with the lowest repossessions in 34 years, down approximately 25% from 2015. According to This is Money, 2016 saw 7700 properties repossessed by the lending institution.

It is not surprising at all to think that Brexit would have certain economic implications, although pre-Brexit the figures were estimated to go up. Historically, it has been normal and expected for the number of repossessions to fluctuate, but they’ve largely stayed around the 20,000 mark. These changes typically are difficult or even impossible to predict, but major political and economic events—such as the global crisis that occurred in 2007 and 2008 and, of course, Brexit—have been known to elicit significant changes in the market.

Economists have turned to past trends to help them predict what to expect in the coming years. In 2009, for example, 48900 properties were taken into possession, which accounted for .43% of all lending. This was particularly high, especially considering that number had been only .07% just a few years before in 2003 and 2004. Since 2012, however, as the economy recovered from this hit, repossessions have been declining and the outlook for homeowners has looked much more optimistic.

Zürich, Switzerland – March 14^th, 2017 – F10, Switzerland’s premier FinTech Incubator and Accelerator, today announced that applications for the third round of its successful P2 FinTech Startup Accelerator Program were being accepted until April 28^th, 2017.

The P2 FinTech Startup Accelerator Program, which will take place from July 3rd to December 7th, 2017, is aimed at providing Startups from around the world, the opportunity to evolve an initial prototype from the planning phase to the market release phase. The Program will be made up of various coaching and educational modules, and will take place at the F10 offices in Zurich as well as online. To insure that the Startups have the best chances of successfully bringing their products to market, the F10 and its external experts and mentors will be on site and available to coach and mentor the qualifying teams.

Startups from the FinTech, InsurTech and RegTech branches will have until April 28th, 2017 to submit their ideas to F10. This will be followed by a pre-selection phase in early June 2017 and a final selection later that same month. Up to 20 successful applicants will work in close co-operation with F10, its members and partners to develop a product to market with full support from the planning stages through to release. This is the third batch of applications to be made, and previous startups who qualified and participated in the P2 Program have enjoyed a high level of mentorship from industry experts.

“FinTech isn’t slowing down,” said Graf. “It’s now more important than ever to offer consumers the products they want in a convenient and speedy package without the traditional hassles — and F10 is at the heart of that revolution. With the support of our new members, we plan to be at the forefront of shaping the evolution of this industry.”

Startups who wish to participate pay no fee, and no equity is taken.
