Cannabidiol (CBD) Inhibits Cancer Growth According to Medical Researchers, Announces Phillip Fry

MONTROSE, MICHIGAN – 6 Mar, 2017 – When activated by exposure to the non-psychoactive marijuana extract Cannabidiol (CBD), the human body’s cannabinoid 1 and cannabinoid 2 receptors (CB1 & CB2) in the body’s endocannabinoid system can act as anti-tumor agents in a number of aggressive cancers.

The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a group of endogenous (having an internal origin) cannabinoid receptors located in the mammalian brain and throughout the central and peripheral nervous systems.

“Chemical components of Cannabis, called cannabinoids, activate specific receptors throughout the body to produce pharmaacologic effects, particularly in the central nervous system and the immune system,” according to the National Cancer Institute.

CBD has been shown to inhibit the progression of cancers located in the breast, lung, prostate, and colon in animal models, suggesting that CBD would also be effective in increasing cancer cell death in human subjects. Other studies have also found CBD to be effective in treating other types of cancers.

That’s an average of more than two scientific publications per day over the last 20 years! Literally thousands of clinical studies show amazing benefits. 2042 studies determined that CBD fights cancer and tumors.

533 studies document reduction of patient chemotherapy-related nausea and vomiting by cannabinoids; 802 studies concluded that CBD helps fight neurodegenerative diseases; 221 studies find that Cannabidiol displays anti-seizure properties; 1784 studies document that CBD suppresses pain; 1168 studies concluded that CBD improves brain function; 295 studies concluded that CBD improves sleep; 1368 studies concluded that Cannabidiol protects from inflammation; and 413 studies documented anxiety relief with CBD.

THC (the separate, psychoactive marijuana extract) and CBD also been shown to be effective at lowering neuropathic pain that traditional treatment was unable to manage. In one study, cancer patients with intractable pain who had previously and unsuccessfully tried to manage their discomfort with opioids saw significant reductions in pain levels after being treated with both THC and CBD.

In addition, the National Cancer Institute recognizes cannabis as an effective treatment for providing relief of a number of symptoms associated with cancer, including pain, nausea and vomiting, anxiety, and loss of appetite.

Massive Legal Fees Awarded to NewYork City Landlord in Veteran Eviction Case

In New York, how tenants’ rights, landlords’ agendas, and the judiciary all intersect can yield unexpected outcomes

New York, NY. The New York Court of Appeals upheld a lower court decision to charge a tenant for all legal fees a landlord incurred in attempts to evict him. The matter was initially brought to the court’s attention when the landlord, Larry Ginsberg, head of Algin Management/Laurence Towers LLC, and owner of over thirty high-rise buildings in New York, filed to evict a 40-year tenant on the basis of a late payment on one rental check.

Tenant Gerard Sunnen claims that this one check was duly sent but simply not cashed. “Rent checks were cashed for forty years, and one month, nothing. Then, they let it be known that the market value of the apartment was a third more, and that unless the difference paid, eviction would follow.” Now known is that this is a common tactic of New York landlords.

The matter landed in NYC’s Housing Court, where months of court appearances cumulated landlord’s legal fees, now billed to the tenant. Demanding some $19,800 reflecting the copious rates of the landlord’s lawyers, Belkin, Burden, Wenig and Goldman, LLP, the matter went to Justice Anne Katz, head of NY’s Housing Court. Katz upheld the landlord’s demand.

Tenant Sunnen, a Vietnam–era U.S. veteran (USAF-MC 71-73; USAF Reserves 73-82), baffled by the verdict states, “After active military duty, that was a first rental, and since then all charges were duly paid. The landlord, however, relentlessly tried to nix the rent stabilization, and this with some success. “Strange that a landlord can start fraudulent proceedings against a tenant and get so well compensated. Countering eviction I narrowly escaped the City Marshall’s services.”

Appealing the decision to the NY Supreme Court Appellate Term, First Department, the matter awaited final adjudication. In a January 2017 decision, justices Martin Shulman, Martin Schoenfeld, and Doris Ling-Cohan upheld Katz’s order.

“Tenants’ rights are sacrosanct in many cities around the world,” tenant Sunnen added, “where community cohesion and cultural richness are so well respected. In these turbulent times moving to upend the essence of New York’s proprietary fabric via massive real estate upheavals, veterans as all New Yorkers should live in the safety of spaces adequately shielded from powerful predatory interests, all in the context of a protective and humanist judicial system.“
