Their prediction has already come true, with Trump having been already appointed Sessions as the attorney general of the United States. Federal Laws are quite different from state laws, and in some cases, can be tricky for operators across all the 29 states that have already legalized recreational and medical marijuana.

Dispensary Exchange editors recently explained their grave concern over the fact that businesses that have already paid taxes to the Fed have their tax records now in the hands of Trump and Jefferson. The editors think that Federal government can now lock the tax-paying operators up and stressed that the case of Timothy Leary and the United States which is in court now is of paramount importance for the operators. Los Angeles Italia: Italian Disabled Actors Show Their Movie About Disability in Hollywood at The Italian Film, Fashion and Art Fest

The Italian movie “I have friends in heaven” (“Ho amici in paradiso”) played by disabled people has been selected to be screened in the context of the Los Angeles Italia – Film, Fashion and Art Fest at the Chinese Theatre of Los Angeles, in Hollywood, February 22nd 2017, in preparation for the Oscars Night 2017.

LOS ANGELES, CA – 21 Feb, 2017 – The movie “I have friends in heaven” (“Ho amici in paradiso”) on Wednesday, February 22nd 2017, at 16.00, local time, will be screened at the Chinese Theatre of Los Angeles (Hollywood), on the occasion of the “12th Los Angeles Italia – The Italian Film Fest” on the eve of the Oscars Nominations 2017. A very important “showcase” to the success of the movie.

The Los Angeles Italia Festival is organized with the support of the MIBACT (Ministry of Cultural Heritage), the patronage of the Ministries of Foreign affairs and Development, in collaboration with the Italian cultural Institute (ICE) and the Consulate General of Italy in Los Angeles, and Cim Group, the University of Southern California and the NIAF (National Italian American Foundation).

In this circumstance, there will be a small delegation of Italian disabled actors, who have starred in the movie together with the professional ones who have starred in the movie: Valentina Cervi, Fabrizio Ferracane, Antonio Catania, Antonio Folletto, Enzo Salvi, Emanuela Garuccio, Erika Blanc.

The actors of the Istituto don Guanella will be accompanied by the Italian movie director, Fabrizio Maria Cortese, by the producer, Antonio Maria Cortese, don Pino Venerito, director of the Casa S. Giuseppe of the Opera don Guanella of Rome, and by Dr. Simonetta Magari, psychiatrist and health director of the same psycho-physical rehabilitation center.

The movie just come out at Italian cinemas, sees as main actors 10 people with disabilities in the psycho-physical Institute Casa S. Giuseppe of the Opera don Guanella of Rome. In the movie, directed by Italian director Fabrizio Maria Cortese, there are also professional actors: Valentina Cervi, Fabrizio Ferracane, Antonio Catania, Antonio Folletto, Enzo Salvi, Emanuela Garuccio, Erika Blanc.

The film was shot between Rome, in the rehabilitation institute of Opera don Guanella, where actors with disabilities actually live, and the Region of Puglia in the south of Italy. The film is about an accountant tied to mafia who is arrested by the police and is serving, as alternative sentence, to social services, serving at the Institute of Casa S. Giuseppe of the Opera don Guanella of Rome. Here, the protagonist struggles at first with the diversity and the severity of the human disability. In a second moment, however, he befriends a disabled guy ,the staff nurses and the director of the centre, father Pino. The character of the movie, Felice Castriota, discovers the beauty of diversity of each person at the centre of psycho-physical rehabilitation don Guanella in Rome. The disabled will save the character eventually, with compelling and funny scenes. The film shows the reality of psycho-physical disabilities without filters, without common places, but also it shows everyone the irony in the beauty of diversity.

Giuseppe of the Opera don Guanella of Rome: “Talking with the movie director we started thanking of something that could reach the general public, to get away from our “religious” environments. We have identified together the road to comedy: making people reflect about disability but also by having fun. So the fantasy of Fabrizio Maria Cortese found the suitable subject. In this fantasy story flows the everyday life of our psycho-physical rehabilitationCenter. It seems to me that the film, while capturing people’s heart for the plot of the story, at the same time give you the chance of discovering the beauty of our “typical”way to spend time with people with disabilities: care, kindness, concern, solicitude, patience… team play.”

“The film, a comedy, brings the comic abilities and heterogeneous personalities of these people considered “less skillful”, but that they can trot out many of the competences of emotional intelligence as evidenced by scientific studies in many years” as stated by Mrs. Simonetta Magari Psychiatrist and medical Director of the Rehabilitation Center San Giuseppe Opera Don Guanella and professor of language disorders and the psychopathology of intellectual disabilities at the Università del Sacro Cuore.

The movie has been produced by the Golden Hour Films with Rai Cinema, in association with the Opera don Guanella and DESI, in collaboration with the National Office for Social Communications of the Italian Episcopal Conference and Fondazione Ente dello Spettacolo.

JOSH NELSON’S “DISCOVERY PROJECT” FEATURED ON NPR’S JAZZ NIGHT IN AMERICA AIRING NATIONWIDE BEGINNING FEBRUARY 23

Pianist Josh Nelson will be featured in NPR’s Jazz Night in America as they head to La La Land to get the real story of what it really takes to be a jazz musician in the City of Angels.

Jazz Night in America is a nationally syndicated weekly radio show and a weekly concert video webcast from venues across the country produced by WBGO. The web site (which is part of the NPR site) is a hub for video features, multi-platform journalism and on-demand access. Altogether, it’s a portrait of jazz music today, as seen through many of its exceptional live performances and performers.

The NPR team came to the Blue Whale jazz club, located in the heart of Little Tokyo in Los Angeles, to film Nelson’s newest Discovery Project concert. Nelson is a widely respected jazz pianist, recording artist, composer, and educator who has performed with some of the biggest names in jazz. He has recorded for countless albums, films, and TV shows, as well as releasing seven CDs as a leader. The Discovery Project is an ongoing multi-disciplinary artistic collaboration and presentation. Using original music compositions and a variety of concrete and abstract moving images projected onto sculptural forms, each unique performance creates an immersive experience for the audience that entirely transforms the performance space.

Nelson created the first Discovery Project in 2011 as an extension of his Discoveries album. That show paired classic science fiction ephemera with new compositions for a brass and wind ensemble that also featured a live video projection and art installation component. His next show in 2015, Exploring Mars, featured musical themes on the Red Planet along with spectacular NASA/JPL Martian video footage. The eponymous CD received wide critical acclaim. All About Jazz said, “A fertile imagination and strong musical skills have given birth to a remarkable work of art here. Exploring Mars is a world unto itself.”

The latest manifestation of the Discovery Project is subtitled The Sky Remains: Exploring the Past, Present and Future of Los Angeles. Nelson’s newest multi-media project is a love letter to the city where he has spent most of his life. The NPR teamed filmed the second of the show’s two-night run, which featured Anthony Wilson on guitar, Alex Boneham on bass, Dan Schnelle on drums, Brian Walsh on clarinet, Josh Johnson on saxophone, Chris Lawrence on trumpet and Kathleen Grace and Lillian Sengpiehl on vocals. Historian Robert Peterson provided narration about Los Angeles history, and Travis Flournoy created the live video projections. The CD based on the show will be released in the Fall of 2017.

Besides showcasing the Discovery Project live performance, the Jazz Night in America program will also ask some L.A. musicians, including John Beasley, Angela Parrish, Peter Erskine and Carl Saunders, what the award-winning movie gets right… and wrong, about jazz.

The episode will air on WBGO on Thursday, February 23rd at 7 pm and on Saturday, February 25th at 11pm.  It will air on NPR member stations throughout that week and it will be posted to the NPR website by the end of the day on the 23rd where it will be available in perpetuity.

Birth of the idea

BuyMeStuff’s story began when Abhi (Co founder) moved to Australia and was looking to buy some household products [TV, fridge etc] for his apartment. Like most other shoppers, he loved a good bargain, but did not to want to visit several retail stores or hunt for deals online. He wasn’t comfortable buying online as he was unsure whether he could trust the retailer he was going to buy from. He was also worried about online fraud and whether the goods would arrive on time. So, he decided to reach out to his good mate Mahendra (Co founder), a savvy online buyer with the knack for finding great deals, to help him out. Mahendra didn’t disappoint him and got Abhi some amazing deals.

However, Mahendra had to spend a significant amount of his time searching for the best deals online, calling retailers and negotiating prices and delivery requirements as the current online solution was static with fixed pricing and limited options to engage with retailers. Even for a savvy buyer like Mahendra, it was time consuming as there was no way for him to engage with the retailers online or ask multiple retailers for a good deal, letting them know exactly what he wanted without visiting a physical store.

So, Abhi and Mahendra started thinking, “why should the consumer do all this hard work of researching, hunting for offers, negotiating and figuring out if retailers are local or overseas?” They realised that while it was impacting the buyers it was also hurting the local retailers significantly.
