Cullen represents the cannabis industry as a member of the Colorado Department of Agriculture’s Private Advisory Committee in a collaborative project to create a curriculum for growers.

IMMIGRATION EXPERT STEVEN RIZNYK ANALYZES PRESIDENT TRUMP’S CHALLENGED TRAVEL

SAN DIEGO, CA – 2/15/2017 (PRESS RELEASE JET) — The 9th Federal Appeal Court’s decision regarding President Trump’s ban on travel is both interesting and simultaneously predictive of the future. The president issued several immigration-related presidential orders as soon as he took office and, although all controversial, the first one was just challenged. What the well-written ruling by the 9th Circuit demonstrates is not that the president cannot do what he is doing, but that he must do so with a finer brush stroke, states immigration expert Steven Riznyk.

Although President Trump’s heart may be in the right place, the method of execution is not one that will work over the long term. Immigration is multi-faceted and there are many special interests at stake. At any time they are challenged in some way, there is no shortage of organizations that will take the issues to court for resolution. The more people and entities affected, the more likely a rapid onslaught of challenges will appear. This was the case here. On the other hand, his presidential order dealing with criminal offenders has had little publicity, despite the riskiness of the fact that one does not even have to be convicted to be removable.

Having practiced for 29 years, states Steven Riznyk, I believe the immigration problems cannot be repaired by only one entity, or representative. It requires multi-faceted input as there is a lot to incorporate and it is wired in the most complex of manners, sprinkled with landmines. No politician or member of the public who has not spent at least a couple of decades in this area can possibly understand it enough to clearly ascertain its strengths and weaknesses. This area, states Mr. Riznyk,  requires a formidable brain trust of persons from different areas to carve out a viable solution for a functional system. An area so complex and with so many special interest groups cannot be addressed without a multitude of sub-parts addressing the different permutations possible.

The lesson to be learned here, is that if the president wants to issue presidential orders with immediate and holding effect, he will have to draft them in a manner that does not impair rights across the board and challenge constitutional issues. If he does not do that, he will find that half of his time could be spent reading appellate briefs challenging his jurisdiction. There are some aspects of the immigration system that do require immediate action and I am in favor of repairing the broken infrastructure. The challenge we face is that if the orders are drafted so broadly, they will have the opposite effect as nothing will get accomplished as the cases languish in the very busy court systems. If that happens, the negative aspects of the future orders will disappear, but so will any benefits as a result of the time these cases spend in the appellate system.

This is the first time, however, that a designation has ever been given to an individual surgeon.

“We congratulate Dr. Marchand for his accreditation,” says Ashley DuBray, SRC senior director. “To achieve SOEMIS accreditation, Dr. Marchand invited SRC to complete a rigorous onsite inspection and thorough chart review to illustrate his compliance with the program. Dr. Marchand and his practice exemplify SRC’s commitment to patient safety and care.”

In contrast to typical surgical procedures, such as a traditional hysterectomy in which a woman’s abdomen is cut open, the uterus removed and then the incision site sutured, minimally invasive techniques use thin needles, very small incisions and an endoscope to guide the surgical tools through the smaller openings. Trauma to the body and recovery time are both reduced with such surgical options, and patients often leave the hospital the same day as the procedure.

Dr. Marchand’s technique for hysterectomies is so refined that he holds a 2008 Guinness World Record with a partner for removing a 7-pound uterus laparoscopically in 2007. He is also extensively published in medical journals for his support of non-invasive techniques and his innovations in the field of minimally invasive surgery.

iEx.ec presented a working demo of the world’s first distributed cloud computing network at the European Ethereum Conference EDCON this week. The French startup aims to be first to market with a new technology that uses blockchain smart contracts to redesign cloud computing.

iEx.ec is creating a distributed market network that it hopes will be home to a new generation of businesses. Internet of Things (IoT), Distributed Applications (DApps) and High Performance Computing (HPC) – commonly known as ‘supercomputing’ could all benefit from access to the iEx.ec distributed cloud. These types of businesses are resource intensive and current cloud environments are too costly, or simply unsuitable for distributed business models. The iEx.ec distributed cloud will create a native environment in which they can thrive, lowering costs through the sharing of resources such as computing power and enabling them to do business with on another.

iEx.ec’s demo features a mini DApp designed specifically to show its technology in action. Laureate Machine Wins WARDJet Waterjet Cutting Machine at IMTS

TALLMADGE, OH – 2/16/2017 (PRESS RELEASE JET) — How surprised would you be if you won a $100,000 waterjet cutting machine? Well, that’s what happened to John Mullet, owner of Laureate Machine & Automation of Ohio, the winner from the “industry pro” side of the WARDJet / IMTS waterjet build-off competition. After joining WARDJet to compete in the waterjet build-off event at IMTS 2016, John returned to his modest-sized contract machine shop with little expectation of actually winning a waterjet. John was surprised when he got a call from WARDJet president and CEO, Richard Ward, telling him he was now the owner of new WARDJet waterjet.

Sizing Things Up
The waterjet cutting machine that Laureate Machine won had a cutting envelope of 5ft x 5ft. John decided to upgrade the size of the waterjet. As he saw it, the prize, a WARDJet E-1515 waterjet machine (1.5 meter by 1.5 meter), might not serve his needs as well as a larger waterjet might. Knowing their standard sheet sizes, John asked if they would be able trade in their 5×5 prize for a larger 5×10 machine. Crediting Laureate the value of the E-1515, WARDJet allowed the company to purchase the E-1530 waterjet for the difference in price.

Laureate Discovers the WARDJet Difference 
Laureate, established in 2000, focuses on designing and building automated finishing systems in addition to handling other types of contract work. Their shop was already equipped to do CNC machining, wire EDM, welding/fabrication, and John had even previously considered a waterjet purchase knowing that the versatility of waterjet technology would complement his capabilities.

When the WARDJet machine was delivered in late November (‘16), it quickly became clear that John understood the value of both his new machine and working with WARDJet. “After the guys came out [WARDJet Installers] and did the ballbar calibration; it was cutting within a few thousandths of circularity on a 24″ diameter circle. Pretty amazing for this large of a machine,” John reported.

Cut Right To It
As soon as the machine was installed Laureate was ready to put it to work. In fact, the Laureate crew started cutting parts on the first day and was able to immediately realize a profit. “We’ve already experienced a cost savings by cutting [in-house] some of the parts we were previously contracting outside,” John said. He went on to explain that the company had been outsourcing waterjet cutting of some large tool and jig blanks that he could now bring in-house and cut on his new WARDJet waterjet­­. Furthermore, John clearly saw some notable differences when using the WARDJet machine. “I am really impressed with the rigidity of this machine and the quality of cut compared to what we were seeing on parts cut on the cantilevered design machine our sub-contractor was using.”

Sessions College Director Appointed to Arts and Cultural Commission

TEMPE, AZ – 2/16/2017 (PRESS RELEASE JET) — Kimberly O’Hanlon, Director of Admissions and Marketing at Sessions College for Professional Design (sessions.edu) has been appointed to the Arts and Culture Commission of St. Helens, Oregon.

The St. Helens Arts and Culture Commission is a volunteer civic organization dedicated to encouraging opportunities for recognition of art and culture in St. Helens, a city located 30 miles north of Portland.

Ms. O’Hanlon has served as Director of Admissions and Marketing at Sessions College, a fully online school of visual arts, for seven years. A trained graphic designer, Kim looked for opportunities to pursue her passion for volunteer and community arts work when she relocated to St. Helens, Oregon.

An opening for a volunteer board member for the St. Helens Arts and Cultural Commission presented the perfect opportunity for O’Hanlon to apply her design training and contribute to her new community. “Community art enhances the “soul” of a place,” says O’Hanlon. “It enhances local awareness and gives us pride in what makes each place and its people special.”

The St. Helens Arts and Culture Commission serves its community through a wide range of public art initiatives and events. The most notable recent Commission project is the Gateway Sculpture, a sculpture featuring two 22-foot tall metal obelisk lanterns created by Portland artist Suzanne Lee.

The Commission also fosters arts engagement from small to large scale, including art workshops and community art events.

The first Commission project Ms. O’Hanlon will be involved in is a Branding and Wayfinding plan, an effort to draw visitors from a highway to the downtown riverfront district. The project goal is to create signage system addresses the needs of all users, whether traveling by foot, bicycle, car, or transit.

“We have a longstanding commitment hiring experienced designers like Kim to our Admissions team,” comments Sessions CEO Doris Granatowski. “We’re thrilled that she’s getting the opportunity to make a difference in the creative community of St. Helens.”

The St. Helens Arts & Cultural Commission encourages opportunities for recognition of art and culture in the community.
