NEW YORK, NY – 25 Jan, 2017 – On Friday, February 3rd, The Voice finalist, Wé McDonald will headline a special concert presented by the Harlem School of the Arts (HSA), in association with Jill Newman Productions and sponsored by Walmart. 

The 17-year-old powerhouse vocalist, the youngest finalist of season 11, surprised everyone including the coaches, with her poise and maturity during a tough competition. 

Joining Wé for this, her first major appearance since The Voice, will be 15-year old keyboard virtuoso Matthew Whitaker and Friends. Matthew won first place on Showtime at the Apollo hosted by Steve Harvey on Fox TV. He is also the youngest organist to be endorsed by Hammond Organ USA, and the youngest pianist endorsed by Yamaha.

Both Wé and Matthew are beneficiaries of HSA’s artistic training, and its legacy of providing the very best resources for the development of gifted individuals.  They join a continuously growing list of exceptionally talented alumni that were groomed, and got their start under the auspices of the Harlem School of the Arts programs.

The authors and organizers of the Solutionary Rail campaign make the case that the non-ideological coalition they are working to organize will bring diverse and often competing interests together in support of a public-private partnership to deliver jobs and renewed prosperity to rural and urban communities alike. They offer this hopeful message with a plan to move America forward – not backward – expanding clean, renewable energy and reducing sources of carbon in the atmosphere.

Rail, unique among forms of mass transportation, can easily be electrified. Because electricity is increasingly coming from clean sources such as sun and wind, rail has the potential to serve as a clean and reliable form of transportation while invigorating communities along the way. The Solutionary Rail book proposes overhead rail electrification, powered by renewable energy accomplished in conjunction with track modernization. This infrastructural investment will bring to the United States the reliable, electrified, higher-speed service now common on public railroads in Europe, Asia and elsewhere.

Such service can draw significant portions of freight and passenger business lost to highways and aviation back to the tracks. Increased speeds, of up to 120mph, will revitalize rural communities along the tracks: Farmers will be able to ship their crops to market in a timely manner, public health problems caused by diesel exhaust will be greatly reduced and (eventually) coal dust will be eliminated in rural and urban communities alike.

The electrification infrastructure above the tracks will pass through diverse weather systems and countless rural power cooperatives, municipal and tribal utility service areas. High voltage transmission lines above those used for the trains will transport renewable energy from rural production sources to large urban markets, giving rural communities the opportunity to profit from currently untapped resources.

This proposal is a win for nearly everyone, railroad companies and the public alike, especially for rural communities, tribes, railroad workers and urban neighborhoods impacted by diesel from trucks, ships and trains.

Merchant Cash Advance – A Reliable Source of Funds for your Business Needs

HOUSTON, TX – 1/24/2017 (PRESS RELEASE JET) — Businesses whose loan applications have been turned down by banks can now obtain instant cash by way of Merchant Cash Advances. Merchant Cash Advances (MCAs) are loans that are given to businesses that more than an year old and have a reasonable amount of credit card sales transactions per month. The criteria however might vary from one lender to the other.

A Merchant cash advance is an advance that is given against a portion of your future credit card sales volume. They don’t involve any collateral. Unlike the other types of loans MCAs do not have a repayment schedule. There are no fixed monthly payments that you have to make. Every time you have a credit card sales transaction, a percentage of the amount gets automatically credit into the lender’s account.

MCAs are easy to qualify since the restrictions are minimal. A bank statement for the previous three to six months is the only documentation that would be needed in order to qualify for a Merchant Cash Advance. Most MCA lenders operate online, which makes it easy for any business to take advantage of such a cash advance, within the shortest span of time. It usually takes anywhere between a half hour to about a day for an MCA application to get approved.

The maximum amount that you can get as a merchant cash advance will be decided by the lender after analyzing your bank statement and your credit card sales transactions. The amount will usually be 80 to 150% of your monthly average credit card sales. This might however vary depending upon the financial strength of the lending firm.

As against interest in other types of loans, MCAs have something called cash advance factor. This could be anywhere between 1.09 and 1.50. This factor is multiplied by the advance amount that you borrow in order to find out how much you need to repay. For instance, if you have borrowed $100,000 at a factor of 1.15, the amount you will have to repay would be $100,000 * 1.15, which is $115,000.

MCAs are usually short-term with repayment terms starting from 3 months to about 15 months. The APR is calculated after taking into consideration this repayment term and the cash advance factor. When compared to regular business loans, the APR here is much higher, as these advances can be obtained easily and quickly, irrespective of the credit score.

The percentage rate of the revenues that you pay to the MCA lender is usually referred to as the retrieval rate. This retrieval rate could be anywhere between 8 and 13% of your credit card sales. It will be deducted on the basis of split processing with the card processing company. There are MCA lenders who also work on the basis of bank account debits. In such an advance a fixed amount from your bank account would be debited on every business day until you pay back what you owe.

Local Weyerhaeuser Distribution Efforts Accelerated in 2016

SEATTLE, WA – 1/25/2017 (PRESS RELEASE JET) — From hosting a Sheep Pasture Golf Tournament to helping with city beautification projects to donating handmade items, employees at Weyerhaeuser Distribution centers were involved in a wide array of unique programs in 2016 to support their local communities.

“Employees at our 17 distribution centers across the country really ‘stepped up’ their local community involvement in 2016,” says David Helmers, vice president of Weyerhaeuser Distribution. “They donated their time and talents to programs that struck close to their hearts and their neighborhoods. We see this type of deep commitment year-after-year as our employees unselfishly give back to their communities.”

Local Volunteerism Efforts

At Hannen Farm in Sweet Creek, Oregon, $4,700 was raised for the American Cancer Society during the fourth annual Sheep Pasture Relay for Life Golf Tournament. Weyerhaeuser employees helped coordinate and participate in the June event that had people trooping up and down rolling hills — and through sheep pastures — to compete in the 18-hole charity game.

Weyerhaeuser employees working at the company’s distribution center in Dallas don’t have to worry if they have a sudden craving for a snack because Mae’s Market is open for business. Mae Mengistu, an administrative assistant at the distribution center started the program after fellow associate Chi Ly came up with the idea of selling snacks at beat-the-vending-machine-prices. They purchase bulk snack items and sell them to fellow employees at a reasonable price in “Mae’s Market.” To date, hundreds of dollars in profits have been donated to Metrocrest Services, a local charity providing assistance to people in crisis throughout the Dallas area.

Handmade hats, scarves and blankets are helping needy children stay warmer throughout Denver thanks to the Christmas Crusade for Children. Weyerhaeuser inside sales representative Brenda Long started the program and crocheted many of the items. Fellow coworkers had a team shopping spree to gather winter essentials for the children’s program.

In Salt Lake City, employees from the Weyerhaeuser Distribution Center volunteered their time to planting trees with the idea to improve the curb appeal of a local community. Volunteer actions were also flowing in southern California as workers took time to build homes for a Habitat for Humanity community for veterans, while in northern California employees worked in a community garden.

Members of the Atlanta Weyerhaeuser team helped pack holiday food boxes and arrange toys for needy families by working with the North Gwinnett Co-Op. Half way across the country, cold weather spurred on the Houston Weyerhaeuser Distribution Center team to conduct a donation drive for new and gently-used coats and blankets for the Star of Hope Donation and Distribution Center. The center helps approximately 1,000 homeless men, women and children at their mission centers daily.

In January 20th, a young fellow Yang from Ukraine came to a Dashuhua theatre of ancient town Nuanquan of Hebei province, putting up a special Dashuhua show especially for his long secretly-loved Chinese girl Xiao Su. Picture shows Yang is performing for Xiao Su, Dashuhua means creating a firework show out of molten iron.

In order to show his love for Xiao Su, Yang goes to Wei county to learn this art from Dashuhua masters as long as he’s got time. “I want to learn how to do it, and I want to put up a show for Xiao Su. Every time she performs, the master performing Dashuhua stands behind her, I want to do this for her, I want her to see this beautiful art,” he says. A prominent Nigerian-born author, Angel Investor, public speaker and crowdfunding expert, Ike Lemuwa, called on the President of Nigeria to take immediate action and organize a National Conference to create a New United Nation of Nigeria. The letter called for the organization of a National Confession, Forgiveness, Reconciliation and Rehabilitation Commission to work together and begin to heal the country’s wounds so as to allow it to move forward into a brighter future. Lemuwa pointed out that Nigeria will not be able to progress if it continues to marginalize its minorities and if the government continues to cater only to the wealthiest 1 percent of the population. “Only through a National Conference that encompasses all people of Nigeria, regardless of ethnicity or religion, can we build a future for our country and have a New United Nigeria,” Lemuwa wrote in his open letter.

The prominent author also called on President Buhari to stop suppressing freedom of speech in the country by curtailing press freedom, locking up the opposition and arresting protesters and other people who express their legitimate grievances against the government.

In addition, Lemuwa criticized Buhari for allowing the government to be dominated by his cronies and members of his “inner circle” and underlined that this is highly undemocratic and that the current regime would fail unless it becomes more inclusive. “I ask you to listen to the voices of your people and make this a global community where the oppressed are not ignore. Be inclusive and engage us all so we may begin to heal and move forward from the many years of hurt,” the letter reads.

In office since 2015, Buhari is a former military leader who previously served as head of state in the mid 1980s after taking power in a military coup. The letter cites South Africa and Sierra Leone as examples of countries that are still healing from the sins of the past, and voices hope that Nigeria would learn from them in terms of ensuring greater inclusiveness for all sectors of society and not just the dominant majority or those who hold power.

The Network, with members with approximately 200 countries, is intended to help members become financially self-sufficient and to support their immediate community.
