Utah Board Game Company Rocks the Tabletop with CHOPS, a Rocker’s Game

Kaysville, UT – November 9, 2015 – Gangrene Games, a Utah-based tabletop game company is poised to release their 4th game into the market. CHOPS, now in development by Craig Nybo (the creator of Shoot Your Friends), takes on a rock and roll theme. Players build rock bands, play gigs, and compete to become the top rocker.

Nybo says that much of the inspiration for his game comes from personal experience. He actively plays in a rock band with fellow game developers, Larry Nybo and Mike Terrell. Craig has put all of the struggles and triumphs involved in trying to “make it to the top” into CHOPS.

He has been co-owner of a digital printing shop for six years, and R&D, project and quality manager in a plastic injection factory for three years. Patricia Martinez, his partner, is a laboratory technician and also has experience in sales and account management.

The campaign currently funding, is looking for ‘Backers’ from Indian communities around the world to make the campaign a success before funding closes on December 7th, 2015.

Road accidents have been a global epidemic and a leading cause of injury, disability and death across the world. It is estimated that by 2030, road accidents will be the 5th leading cause of deaths worldwide, killing more people than HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria combined. Developing countries like India are the most affected nations. Recently India’s Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi expressed concern that Indian roads witness 55 accidents every hour and one untimely death every 4 minutes. Also SaveLife Foundation, a prominent non-profit organization working to improve road safety has estimated that road accidents are costing India 3% of its GDP.

“We have taken up this humbling challenge to make a positive change. We want to create a world class, technology driven, automatic crash alert platform and network of emergency services to save lives being lost to road accidents in India,” said Prasad Pillai, Co-founder of Raksha SafeDrive. “We believe India cannot sustain its development without making its roads safer.” 

Raksha SafeDrive claims to be a cool Internet of Things (IoT) connected-car gadget” and takes the role of a safety companion on the go!  With automatic crash detection capabilities SafeDrive will alert the Raksha Network’s command center with the location and an initial assessment in the unfortunate event of a crash enabling effective management of emergency services. This standalone IoT device also works as smart panic button, capable of GPS tracking, reporting telemetrics and improving driving behavior. 

In an emergency, SafeDrive will open a communication channel between the people necessary to effectively manage the situation. This may include family, friends, first responders, ambulance, hospital, police, insurance provider and roadside assistance.

The Raksha SafeDrive team is looking up to Indian expats all over the world to join this effort by backing their campaign on Kickstarter and enable bringing forth such a platform in India. MacroPoint to push Lawsuit for Patent Infringement to Federal Circuit Court

CLEVELAND, OH – 09 Nov, 2015 – MacroPoint, creators of patented freight tracking software designed to give 3rd party visibility into load status by monitoring and tracking the location of a driver’s mobile phone, including flip phones, or existing in-cab ELD/GPS devices, today announced that it will continue to pursue its patent infringement case No. 1:15-cv-01002-PAG in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio against start-up company FourKites. MacroPoint filed a complaint against FourKites for alleged patent infringement and an amended complaint asserting that FourKites infringed and continues to infringe on additional recently issued patents. 

“We agree with the United State Patent and Trademark Office that issued our patents, but respectfully disagree with the district court’s view, and now it’s going to be up to the Federal Circuit Court to decide upon the infringement case,” said Bennett Adelson, president of MacroPoint. “Due to the highly variable layers of patent laws and decisions right now, this is par for the course in patent cases. We were hopeful the district court could have short circuited the process and decided the infringement more quickly, but as is the case in most lawsuits it’s now just going to take us a bit more time to eventually get to an infringement ruling in this case.” MacroPoint has additional patents in its portfolio that were not part of its claim against FourKites.

MacroPoint’s continued belief that its intellectual property rights have been violated is based on issues involving a U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Alice Corp. v. CLS Bank International, a case widely considered to be a decision on software and business methods patents. Since the Supreme Court’s June 2014 ruling, now simply referred to as Alice, federal courts have issued diametrically opposed opinions that have led to confusion regarding claims of patent validity and infringement. Additionally, under current patent law, issued patents from the PTO are to be presumed valid by courts. In this case a number of MacroPoint’s patents were validly issued after the U.S. Patent Office formulated new guidelines in light of Alice for reviewing patent applications.

“We are one of many companies that believe that although Alice has assisted in curbing an excessive number of patent trolling lawsuits, it has created confusion in the business community and is now running the risk of not providing clarity of intellectual property rights for innovative companies like MacroPoint that are the original inventors of a credible and viable product,” continued Adelson.  “Whether you believe in the Alice decision or not, the fact that we have patents issued both pre and post Alice should be sufficient enough evidence that we have done absolutely every step necessary to safeguard our technology from infringement. We’re looking forward to the Federal Circuit putting its final seal of approval, like the U.S. Patent Office, that MacroPoint’s intellectual property rights are enforceable.”

Local Houston business owners band together to raise money on November 12th for Nicole’s Garden, a space gardening program for children

Three local businesses will play host to a sip and shop charity event at Mio Boutique on Thursday, November 12, 2015 from 6:00pm-8:00pm. A portion of all proceeds will benefit Nicole’s Garden, a non-profit organization dedicated to alternative gardening programs.

“I was so honored when they approached me about wanting to host a charity event benefiting our non-profit,” stated Founder Dr. Noreen Khan Mayberry. “Alternative gardening, also known as urban farming, is quickly becoming a necessity in dense cities like Houston. ALSOK Adopts Eagle Eye Networks Cloud Video Surveillance for ALSOK Customers
