China Human Brain Fund Will Be 3.5 Billions USD In 2017

“The Human Brain Science Fund led by Shenzhen city and National Natural Science Foundation will be launched on middle of 2017,” said Aaron Xue, coordinator of the fund.

What’s China’s Plan – 3.5 billions USD   

Aaron Xue said “The strategic positioning of human brain fund is of great importance.”

Since 2014, China researchers have constantly urged about launching human brain plan. During the CPPCC and NPC in 2015, Li Yanhong, the CEO and the president of Baidu proposed the proposal of “China Brain” and urged to set up national “China Brain” plan.

China has not issued national brain plan yet, but local government has already started. According to the disclosure of professors participating in the research to the journalist of International Financial News, Beijing has already allocated 10 for research and Shanghai has already allocated 20 million yuan for research. But there is no official news about it.

Chen Xin, the director of the Foundation Agency of Shanghai Science and Technology Commission expressed that that Shanghai has started to constantly organize discussions between experts and enterprises for many times since the later half of 2014. Recently, it has been certified that Shanghai brain plan should be started from four aspects, “wet” (brain fundamental principles), “soft” (smart software algorithm), “hard” (smart robot, brain-similar chip, smart wearable devices) and “use”.

Some researchers in Beijing issued the Special Implementation Plan of “Human Rrain Science Research” of Beijing Science and Technology Commission in the Beijing Science and Technology Commission on September 1st.  The two five-year development objectives were proposed in this plan.

Yan Aoshuang, the director of Beijing Science and Technology Commission points out that Beijing “brain science research” will aim at the cutting edge of international brain science research, surround demands on human brain health and brain diseases and the important opportunities of the rapid development of communications and information industry. It layouts from two aspects, “brain recognition and brain medicine” and “brain recognition and brain-similar computation”. When carrying out cutting edge researches, it also pays attention to the actual application so that each progress of science research can better serve people’s daily lives.

Wang Xiaojing, the deputy president of Shanghai Newyork University points out that “brain science needs its own Newton”. He thought that the breakthroughs in artificial intelligence should be based on the breakthroughs in basic researches. Without basic research, there will be no breakthroughs in application.

Source of the Research Expenditure

Government, enterprise and public profit are the main sources of the research expenditure, 3 billion US dollars in all.

In China, the expenditure almost fully come from the government, while the R&D investment into enterprises’ original innovation is still not high which causes that most of R&D are measured by theses, instead of being measured by market and economic contribution. Meanwhile, the combined technological development between public R&D institutes such as universities and the market-based enterprise application is not deep enough.

The guest professor of Fudan University suggests that, “China rich and enterprises can found public-profit private fund like Bill Gates so as to support the R&D undertaking of China. Additionally, China researches can also broaden their vision and apply for international public-profit fund.”

However, it’s also not wise to move from one extreme to another. The above guest professor of Fudan University reminded the reporter of International Financial News that, “It’s understandable that return is needed from investment, but R&D doesn’t mean that we can become rich on the second year when we invest this year.”

Wang Xiaojing also reminded that, “R&D is a long process, especially the research in fundamental science, which requires compromising environment to the researchers.”

Wendy Carter has been invited by the American Association of Breast Care Professionals (AABCP) to serve on a newly formed Professional Identity Committee and assist in its efforts to promote the important role of certified mastectomy fitters in the medical community.

“I will do whatever it takes to increase knowledge among patients, members of the medical industry, and the general public,” Carter said. “Unfortunately, there are too many uncertified individuals attempting to do this highly specialized work, causing frustration to both patients and medical providers. Our goal is to increase knowledge of our profession, what we do, and the importance of the role.”

In addition to raising awareness, AABCP’s goals for the Professional Identity Committee include defining the role of a post mastectomy fitter, identifying educational requirements for the position, and establishing a standard of care for post mastectomy patients. The committee plans to host quarterly conference calls leading up to a summit event in 2017.

LOS ANGELES, CA – 17 Oct, 2016 – As we move closer to the presidential election, voters are being asked to decide between two controversial candidates. For many voters, the ideal Goldilocks-inspired “just-right” candidate is missing in 2016. 

 Many voters may feel like they are living in Never-Neverland.   They do not like The Donald nor do they like Hillary.  Voters believe they have limited choices. In fact, it’s hard to meet anyone who doesn’t have strong opinions this time around, causing some voters to say they’re not voting at all.  But research tells us that people turn up more often than not to vote against a particular candidate.  

Fairy tale characters can be found in every election, according to Wendy P. Krosnick, Professor of Psychology and Political Science at Ohio State University is often cited for his 24-year period study of voter attitudes.   He believes that American voters are optimistic and really want to like their candidates, but are more likely to show up at the polls when one candidate is greatly feared, disliked or distrusted. In an election year when voters may vote against the status quo in favor of new ideas, Krosnick would say “…political psychologists have found that when Americans begin to learn about a new politician, they approach him or her optimistically, hoping for a ‘white knight’ to appear who will be competent, trustworthy and effective.”

Dr. Basil and Klinger believe that a candidate needs to be a white knight and a political scientist. He or she needs to create a personal brand to appeal to voters drawing upon the latest scientific findings in neuroscience. Longoria Releases The Journey Album

LOS ANGELES, CA – 17 Oct, 2016 – David Longoria, trumpeter, music producer and songwriter releases The Journey, his first contemporary instrumental album in three years with an EDM (Electronic Dance Music) soundscape on Del Oro Music. Produced by Longoria and Robert Eibach, the twelve song collection follow the theme of a lifetime of milestones represented as a journey. From a time before birth to the afterlife, the range covers a dozen points common to most people. 

Starting and ending with different versions of a theme called Angels, Longoria presents a catchy improvised theme that brings to mind barouque trumpeting. The opening version is a beat driven dance track that seamlessly blends the classical trumpeting with edgy progressive house production. The ending rendition is beatless and relies more on ethereal arrangement incorporating both strings and synthesizors, symbolizing the afterlife. Staying true to the theme, The Journey illustrates the songs listing as a map instead of the traditional titles list. 

“I drew a map to show how each song relates to the others in the timeline of one’s life,” Longoria explains, adding, “Every milestone represents an important event  or point in a life”.

Genesis is a musical representation of a single cell meeting another and dividing over and over again. One note then two, four, eight, sixteen and so forth until a melody forms. Finally a heartbeat emerges and the melody takes shape as a unique song, or being. Playground is a fun, dancey song that playfully bounces the trumpet’s catchy melody over the beat. Mermaids carries a nautical theme and is meant to show the point where boys discover girls. 

“Every little boy falls in love with mermaids and every little girl wants to be one”, says Longoria. He describes his own experience as “a curious time when I found that girls were far prettier than we were and could be way more dangerous”.  

Never Give Up, Dodging Arrows, The Good Life and Swagger are songs that bring the theme into the formative years and into adulthood. International musicians joined in to compliment the songs including Grammy winning South African flautist Wouter Kellerman with a solo and harmonized duet with Longoria’s trumpet. Funky bassist Duane “Smitty “Smith brought a memorable solo and foundation and legendary guitarist Funky Gemi Taylor lent a hand for the proud Swagger. Decadence shows that in one’s life often we take things to excess. This dance song features the vocals of Longoria joined by Electro Pop duo Stiletto, made up of singers Katie Shorey and Andie Sandoval, and young rock lead guitarist Ariel. Stiletto’s seductive vocals brought the temptation element to the song.

“To show that edgy element I needed to bring in a fun and crunchy, screaming guitarist to play off the lyrics and my wild trumpet work,” Longoria explains, and adds “Ariel has such a great feel for edgy solo work I knew she would bring just the right amount of energy and edge to the song”. He found that her youthful presence and tremendous talent were perfect to compliment the theme of the over-the-top song.  Longoria found her guitar solo videos on YouTube and contacted her to bring her to the studio. “I really enjoyed her take on the classic shredding guitar solos a la Eddie Van Halen and others from the vintage eras of the 1970s and 80s,” he says. “She is a very talented musician as well as a very sweet young lady, which was a bit of a nice surprise!” Longoria muses. 

There comes a time in life when you realize it shouldn’t just be all about yourself and you want to reach out to give others a hand with words and deeds of encouragement. “I wanted to have a song on The Journey that lifts people up and can cause change in our society, even though I know that seems like a lofty goal at the onset,” Longoria explains, adding “Since last year marked the 30th anniversary of Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie’s iconic collaborative song We Are The World, I wanted to take that inspiration and write something to take on an issue of today by bringing artists together to join me”. He wrote a song to unite races in our modern world, by verbally sticking a flag in the notion of people standing up for one another and declaring to love one another. We Are One was written and produced by Longoria to attempt to do more than words. He formed a charity, We Are One Concerts, LLc to educate and involve students in discovery and the idea of uplifting each other regardless of race, culture and economics, where the proceeds of the recording can do some good. By designating profits to the good works of the charity,  Longoria felt the mission can reach many students across the country – especailly in the cities where racial tensions have been the greatest in recent years, including Ferguson, Charleston, Baltimore, New York and Chicago. 

Longoria knows a bit about bringing programs to kids to encourage and inspire through music. In 2001 He, along with a few other recording artists started a concert program that produces concerts at schools and community venues with a charity called LIFT (Living Intelligently For Today). The self funded program has brought the artists across the country producing as many as 250 concerts in a year, all with no cost to schools or students. 

“I asked twenty artists to join me singing on We Are One so we could show the power of many singing in unison, and how those voices could take on such an important issue in our time,” says Longoria. He planned to produce the song with those twenty artists within two weeks and wrap up the recording project. Things got a bit out of hand. Nearly a year and a half later, Longoria has produced more than 600 artists all singing together with him on this now historic song for unity. Artists from all genres, races and generations joined in singing. Stars of Motown to now including Coasters, Drifters, Platters, Freda Payne, The Fifth Dimension, Florence LaRue, Jerry Bell (The Dazz Band), Brenda Holloway, Dawnn Lewis, Corey Feldman, Marvin Gaye, Jr., Peaches and Herb and about 595 more recorded in more than 400 recording sessions in cities all over America and Europe. 

“The song and mission are far bigger than me now,” he explains. In fact music business icon Russ Regan told him upon hearing it, “yes, you have a hit here, but its not just a song, it’s a movement”. Regan might be a good source of foresight in music. He ran some of the most successful record labels in modern history and is credited with discovering Elton John and Neil Diamond, got Jesus Christ Superstar made and gave the Beach Boys their name. 

As one’s life matures we discover that forgiveness and mercy are essential to ones successful human condition. Longoria wrote Redemption to memorialize this. 

Photography on The Journey was created by photographer Harrison Funk, well known for his iconic work with Michael Jackson and many other international stars. From nemerous magazine covers for Time and others to his official portrits of The Queen of England, Nelson Mandela, many US presidents including Regan, Carter, Clinton, Bush Sr. and Jr. and Obama. The life theme of The Journey was photographed in teh Nevada desert where the team braved 117 degree heat as they shot the pictures that became The Journey illustrations.

As a reporter, I asked Ms. Feng Guangyu some problems and her answers shocked me greatly!  She said that what she wanted to do was not only to propagate Chinese traditional culture, which was not able to move people or realize propaganda of the quintessence of Chinese culture and international culture communication! Her goals and dreams are always on the way. Because opera groups locate in various states in America and there are lots of issues to be discussed further, she hopes that the Forum can be held for a long time, invite more opera workers and systematically record the hardworking events in China Association of Literary and Art Study. With a Chinese original opera self-positioning, through the pattern of manifestation of operas, traditional Chinese culture and western culture are combined to indeed integrate Chinese culture into American mainstream culture!

When the activity came to an end, as the responsible person of the New York Flushing Town Hall, Michael Liu said, because opera groups locate in various states in America and there are lots of issues to be discussed further, she hopes that the Forum can be held for a long time, invite more opera workers and systematically record the hardworking events in China Association of Literary and Art Study.

As a historical and cultural relic in New York, Flushing Council on Culture and the Arts takes charge of operating and managing various programs of literary and arts as well as educational activities in Flushing Town Hall. Flushing Council on Culture and the Arts (FCCA) aims at promoting various artistic activities all over the world and providing a perfect communication platform and more educational resources for ethnic groups in Queens, New York so as to promote understanding and integration among different ethnic groups.

As one of the Cultural Institutions Groups (CIG) authorized by the New York government, the Council is also authorized by the New York government to manage Flushing Town Hall (FTH) and take charge of repairing and operating the historical relic that was built in 1862. For so many year, FCCA has advocated delicated Jazz concerts and propagated the long history of Jazz music in the Queens. Meanwhile, it also has been devoted to providing artistic education and providing practical opportunities for art beginners, art amteurs and professional artists. Juthawong recently recounted the story behind the development of the groundbreaking webcam safety software application. “There was a university friend of mine who had shown me a notebook which had a green LED light glowing all the time. It was clearly a case of spyware infestation. I disconnected the Wi-Fi network and also the LAN cable. His laptop, which was bogged down, started to run faster and the LED light disappeared”, he explained the inspiration behind the project.

“We now have launched this antivirus software, Ampare Camera Guard, which can be used just like a switch to turn on and off a webcam. Since the webcam safety software application uses very little CPU memory and is indeed a lightweight one, we recommend this for PCs installed in homes and offices. The interface is quite simple and the software application should be quite easy to use”, added Juthawong.

At present, Ampare Engine is also looking forward to entering long-term affiliate partnerships with affiliate partners. The affiliate program for the software product has already been launched through Jvzoo system. Juthawong Naisanguansee told the press that they are also on a lookout for interested investors since they have many more software application development projects in the pipeline. “The goal of Ampare Engine is to create really useful enterprise-level software programs which can also be used by general users”, he added during a press conference in Bangkok, Thailand.
