One major area that uninsured flood victims need help is how to find and get rid of toxic mold that can begin growing on flooded building materials after just 24 hours of wetness.

“Because only living mold spores and colonies can grow in the flooded building materials of a home, workplace, or commercial building, or a inside person’s body, the most accurate and meaningful mold analysis method for use by Texas and Carolina property owners is to grow for 7 days surface samples, air test samples, and bulk samples from actual building materials. “Such indiscriminate counting of dead mold spores is especially unhelpful and inappropriate in the mold analysis of post-remediation mold tests taken after the completion of mold removal and remediation projects for flooded Texas and Carolina homes and commercial buildings because two of the most effective mold remediation steps (high output ozone gas and spraying and fogging with EPA-registered fungicides) provide almost total mold kill in remediated buildings but the killed spores will still be counted in subsequent non-viable mold lab analysis,” further explains Fry, who is also a Certified Environmental Inspector, Certified Remediation Specialist, Certified Mold Inspector, Certified Mold Remediator, and Certified Duct Cleaning Specialist.

The exclusive mission of Mold Growth Lab is to grow collected samples for 7 days, and then count, and identify only living mold colonies (one colony grown from each original live mold spore).

30 Oct, 2015 – Structurflex was recently recognized with the Outstanding Achievement Award for Façades for work on Northwestern University’s Visitor’s Center in Chicago, IL.

“We are honored to be recognized by such a notable organization as the IFAI. Though we are seasoned in the international design, fabrication, and installation of tensile structures and have a diverse project portfolio, we are particularly excited that this iconic project has received accolades in this year’s IAA,” said Paul Snustead, Business Development and Design Manager at Structurflex. “Both the Visitor’s Center and the adjoining parking garage are integral parts of the historic Northwestern’s campus, reflective of the university’s diversity, culture, and innovation.”

Work on the Visitor’s Center was completed with fabric supplier and producer Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics Corp., and architect Perkins + Will, with engineering, fabrication, subcontracting, installation, and project management handled by Structurflex. The University’s vision for the Sailing and Visitor Center encompassed a state-of-the-art parking structure serving an imminent need for a parking solution while making a signature statement. The tensile façade was designed to blend with the adjoining development of the Sailing and Visitor’s Center. The project features 94 panels, or approximately 10,000 square feet of PTFE membrane, that were custom-shaped to mimic a wave of water, evoking the sailing theme. Structurflex provided collaboration on the design, engineering of the sails and structural support, plus PTFE fiberglass fabrication and installation. Due to the need to avoid conflict with post-tensioned slabs and rebar in the concrete parking garage, Structurflex collaborated with the contractor to devise a solution for placement of the embedment anchors responsible for attaching the structural framing.

In addition to the Outstanding Achievement Award for Facades, Structurflex also received the Outstanding Achievement Award for Frame-Supported Structures for work on Corinthians Arena in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

30 Oct, 2015 – Structurflex, one of the world’s leading producers of fabric architecture, was recently recognized with the Outstanding Achievement Award for Frame-Supported Structures for work on Corinthians Arena in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

“It is always an honor to receive accolades, but we are especially honored to have received two awards from an organization as prestigious as the Industrial Fabrics Association International. We are very proud of our work on the Corinthians Arena project in particular, as it was a complex, large-scale undertaking that served an integral part in the 2014 World Cup. We were happy to help create a stadium for Brazil’s most popular sports brand, one that will leave a lasting impression on Corinthians fans and soccer fans worldwide,” said Paul Snustead, Business Development and Design Manager at Structurflex.

To complete the project, Structurflex partnered with fabric supplier and producer Ferrari S.A., engineer Werner Sobek, and Architect Anibal Continho, with Structurflex spearheading subcontracting, installation, and project management. The Arena site, located on the east side of Sao Paulo, was converted from a toxic industrial facility to a world class soccer and event space seating 48,000 to 68,000 people that hosted the opening ceremony of 2014’s World Cup. With an objective to create a state-of-the-art sports facility for Brazil’s largest and most renowned soccer team, The Corinthians, Structurflex provided a continuous smooth, thin, and lightweight PVC tensile membrane ceiling measuring 300,000 square foot [28,000 square meters] to visually conceal the roof structure and serve as a projection surface for opening ceremony events. As a fast track design build, the Corinthians project required coordination between several countries – five alone for the membrane portion of the project. Around-the-clock work commenced to ensure the highest quality performance in design, fabrication, and installation. To create a continuous smooth roof, Structurflex developed a custom extrusion, creating the illusion of a seamless panel transition. Installation of the ceiling membrane was particularly challenging; it had to occur from a net, upside down, to produce the desired effect.

In addition to the Outstanding Achievement Award for Frame-Supported Structures, Structurflex was recognized with an Outstanding Achievement Award for Facades for work on Northwestern University’s Visitor’s Center in Chicago, IL.

Here is how the process works. You send the company a high resolution photo of your pet and they take that digital image and make a 3D model of the photo. Once the design is complete, the piece is 3D printed to form a mold and cast it in your choice of metal. The better the photo of your pet the better result and finer the details of the finished piece will be.

“Well, are you an expert?” She hesitantly replied, “I’ve been training on that topic for over 20 years, and I just did a presentation on a regulatory update related to that topic.” At which point, her co-working peers said, “You’re an expert.”​

A recent Forbes article highlighted the “imposter syndrome” that plagues many female professionals.

“Stop Apologizing And Start Being An Expert: A View On Female Entrepreneurship”

Thanks to their encouragement, she overcame her “imposter syndrome.” 

In response to author Vanessa Loder’s seven tips for female entrepreneurs to own their expertise, authority marketing specialist Lisa Williams illuminates these issues even further.

While the Forbes article focused mainly on female entrepreneurs, Williams says these principles apply to all entrepreneurs or service-based professionals who meet the following criteria:

Anyone who makes a living by charging for their advice, expertise and experience.

Those who are experts in their area, but have never thought of themselves as such.

Those who want to increase their outreach to ideal clients in order to put their expertise before them.

Those who feel like they are the “best kept secret” in their industry.

Anyone who would like to become a more recognized expert.

1) Claiming I’m an Expert

The Forbes article tells women not to be afraid to refer to themselves as experts because, relative to the average adult, they are experts in their respective fields. In other words, expertise is relative.

“How many people, if they’re truly honest, feel comfortable calling themselves an expert?” Williams asks. She has a counterintuitive solution: “we really shouldn’t refer to ourselves as the expert.” In the quest for more credibility, Williams says, “if we are positioned properly, others will see us as an expert and put that title on us.”

2) Expertise is Only if We Are Degreed or Credentialed

“Not by a long shot,” Williams says. She is in agreement with Loder on this point, “the school of hard knocks does indeed count. Degree or not, actual experience may carry more weight today among those you serve in the world of reality TV,” Williams says. “Out with theory and in with practice.”

3) The Greater Benefit of Being Quoted as an Expert

While “simply claiming yourself as an expert can help you to become an expert,” as Loder puts it, Williams counters, “isn’t the idea really to be seen by others as an expert or authority? Having third-party media quoting and interviewing you, and talking about your expertise is far more effective than naming it and claiming it.” Lauded businesswoman and TV personality Barbara Corcoran echoes this sentiment, “When you are constantly quoted as the expert in your field, everyone believes that you are.”

To gain authority, “entrepreneurs must get in and stay in the media — be quoted and interviewed as a subject matter expert, sharing your expert opinion on current challenges your ideal audience is experiencing, and offering education and information that speaks to their needs and concerns,” Williams says. In essence, positioning yourself as Seth Godin’s Purple Cow, the stand-out authority in your industry, worthy of remark.

4) Manufacture Your Authority

As Loder says, “It’s ok to feel uncomfortable, do it anyway.” Williams says, ”Some may call this manufacturing your authority.” Case in point: Kim Kardashian, the originator of modern celebrity, has attained fame for nothing at all. While being an easy target for people who are appalled at the lack of perceived reason she has for being famous, “there is no doubt that she has successfully become an authority on celebrity, and benefits from that authority by being at the top of mind for press opportunities. She is standing out in her industry (purple cow), and creating a niche for herself,” Williams says. Yes, Kim Kardashian is a successful entrepreneur, whether you like it or not, and she is an example of someone who has positioned herself as a celebrity, but not claiming to be one herself. Williams adds, “This also works for a professional or entrepreneur in any industry.”

5) How to Become the Hunted, Not the Hunter

Loder states that, “When you claim your expertise, people are attracted to your knowledge and want to work with you.” Williams agrees with this statement, “People become attracted to your knowledge and want to work with you when your expert or celebrity status makes you stand out among your competition.” Claiming and sharing are different, Williams says. “Instead of calling yourself an expert, you can say, ‘I was recently featured in entrepreneur magazine with a panel of experts about your topic.’ When you share information that positions your expertise, it draws your ideal prospect to you without you having to sell yourself. You start to become the hunted, and not the hunter.”

6) Build Your Confidence as an Expert

Loder’s sixth point, “If you can’t say it to yourself, you can’t claim it in the world.” This point comes down to confidence, Williams says. “Being featured in major media outlets can build your confidence in being an expert. If major media such as ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox affiliates feature you in articles and press releases, I guarantee you that the feedback you receive from your clients and prospects will begin to strengthen your confidence, far more than you just claiming it to the world.”

7) Prove It With Social Media

“There are many ways to tell someone that you are an expert without saying those words,” Williams says. For example, you could share your “humble brags.” “After you have been interviewed, received an award or featured in major media, share a screenshot of the article and say, ‘I am honored that this local media outlet saw the value in the services I provide.’ Share this post across your social media platforms, in an email to your prospects and with colleagues. This is considerably more effective in making something go viral.”

“Every business owner desires to gain traction and notoriety in their business. You no longer have to sit and hope that one day the media will find you — always remember, ‘media begets more media,’” Williams says. “The question is: will you continue to try and claim your own expertise, or will you find out how to walk into it?”

“Ladies, don’t be intimidated; and gentlemen, gender isn’t a factor in being positioned as an expert or authority in your industry. It is imperative for anyone in business.”

Tom McMurrain, author and Digital Currency expert, recently hit #1 on three Amazon best seller lists with his new book “The 7th Disruption: The Rise of the Digital Currency Billionaire”.

Digital Currency Expert Tom McMurrain’s new book “The 7th Disruption: The Rise of the Digital Currency Billionaire”  hit the #1 spot on the Amazon.com Best Seller list in the Digital Currencies, Online Trading and E-Commerce categories on November 5th .

Digital Currency, also known as crypto-currency, has been placed under the spotlight and is one of the most talked about topics in financial world but can be a confusing concept for many in the mainstream.  Author Tom McMurrain has been a part of this intriguing world for some time and has made it his mission to educate others on how to incorporate it into their lives.

In a recent interview with Influencers Radio, McMurrain stated, “Digital currency is the most important technological innovation to happen in our time in the last thirty or forty years. There is a lot of legislation in place to regulate crypto-currencies. They are creating jobs in the United States, high paying jobs, because they are technology jobs. In his book “The 7th Disruption: The Rise of the Digital Currency Billionaire”, McMurrain suggests that just as Napster disrupted the music industry, bitcoin is disrupting the monetary industry. McMurrain calls digital currency the 7th Disruption and details what he considers to be the first six disruptions that have occurred in the last 100 years. He identifies TV, Internet, Email, Mobile, E-commerce, and Social Media as having created thousands of multi-billion dollar industries.

McMurrain predicts the 7th Disruption, Digital Currency, is will topple the banking and financial industries. “My definition of a disruption is a breaking of a value chain in a company, industry or government that is core to its existence. A disruption really redefines and reshapes human culture. I came up with six disruptions which not only generated trillion dollar industries, but they actually reshaped human culture and human behavior,” explained McMurrain.

Digital currency is here to stay and many major players in the investment and banking industries are heavily invested in it. He encouraged all to get engaged in digital currency, which he considers to be the next big thing.
