A cool dad from Israel, Ofer Hod, has launched a crowdfunding campaign at Indiegogo in support of his new children’s book “My Dad’s Bald Head” that shows the coolest of ways to celebrate daddy’s bald head for the kids.

When the whole world conceives baldness as something “weird”, the new-age book looks to change the popular notion for better by showing cutest of ways to celebrate daddy’s bald head.

BREAKING: OptumRX to Require VAWD Accreditation for Reimbursements

MIAMI, FL – 8/16/2016 (PRESS RELEASE JET) — In a letter dated August 11, 2016, OptumRX announced that it will require provider pharmacies to limit their purchasing to suppliers who have the private VAWD Accreditation, starting October 1, 2016. After years of declining reimbursements and creative MAC strategies, OptumRX has dealt another blow to the independent retail pharmacy.

Said Sumeet Singh, Director of Five Rivers RX, “This is an unprecedented move that will have a very immediate and detrimental effect on pharmaceutical distribution in the United States. Specifically, this action has the potential to increase drug pricing and create artificial shortages. OptumRX is increasing the pressure on family-run, independent pharmacies and distributors. We plan to investigate the legality of the action immediately.”

There is definitely a business case to push Americans away from independent pharmacies and towards national retail chains. It was only in March that OptumRX announced Walgreens to be its preferred retail pharmacy partner with its own in-house pharmacy to be the preferred mail order pharmacy. In exchange for naming Walgreens a preferred partner, OptumRX enjoys lower drug costs – and higher profits.

Per the letter, pharmacies “MUST purchase ALL medications dispensed for claims being dispensed to OptumRX participants” (emphasis theirs) from a VAWD Accredited distributor. OptumRX has over 65 million covered lives, or almost 25% of insured Americans. This action is most likely enough to convince all independent pharmacies to restrict purchases to those suppliers that have VAWD accreditation.

Based on anecdotal evidence of performance, the NABP takes a minimum of nine months to complete the VAWD Accreditation process. With less than two months’ notice, distributors can expect to have their business severely impacted or brought to a standstill for at least seven months, until they are able to gain VAWD Accreditation.

“It does not make sense for OptumRX to have such a short window before demanding VAWD Accreditation. Dynasty Pharmaceuticals has been faithfully serving the independent pharmacy market for over 6 years. The DQSA legislation completely overhauled the nation’s drug pedigree laws to ensure continuity across states, in addition to requiring annual reporting of licensures and other requirements. The law has already helped to cement the transparency and safety of the pharmaceutical supply chain, severely impacting the relevance of VAWD Accreditation.

Conquer the Bridge 8 is a walk/run event with a course traveling across the famed Vincent Thomas Bridge. Harbor.

America’s Largest WWII Reenactment to be held August 19-20th in Conneaut, Ohio

CONNEAUT, OH – 8/16/2016 (PRESS RELEASE JET) — D-Day Conneaut,  America’s largest WWII reenactment, with over 1800 reenactors from the United States and Canada, will be heldAugust 19-20th in Conneaut, Ohio.

D-Day Conneaut is not only America’s premier WWII living history event, it is a cultural, social, and highly authentic reenactment of the days and weeks leading up to and including the invasion of France.

D-Day Ohio is an annual event that is free to the public and allows attendees to experience one of the most important events in this nation’s history. You can see men, women, their machines of war, and learn how they lived and trained. Experience four mock battles. Explore fully working Allied and Axis camps complete with troops and their equipment.

Visitors will see numerous living history displays with re-enactors depicting medical units, weapons depots, field kitchens, the Red Cross, war photographers, and radio switchboards and communication stations.

There are demonstrations on tactics and firing of weapons including the only live firing German 88 in the United States. See the vehicles that were used including 6 different Tanks, DUKW amphibious crafts, Amtrak, and multiple working Higgins boats.

Come meet over 180 WWII veterans who served and hear their stories. Notable veterans include Hershel “Woody” Williams, one of the 6 remaining Medal of Honor recipients from WWII.  Seven more veterans of WWII will be receiving the French Legion d’honneur citation at the events third annual “Salute to Veterans” ceremony slated for Saturday at 12:15.

Saturday afternoon is the main event; the landing of the beach.  See 3/4 scale T-51 mustangs and a fully restored B-25 Bomber fly over the beaches on Saturday while hundreds of US, British, and Canadian troops storm the German held bluffs.

Each year reenactors from as far away as California and Canada make the pilgrimage (at their own expense) to Conneaut to keep the stories alive and honor those who gave so much. With over 1800 reenactors in attendance, D-Day Conneaut is the largest US reenactment of the European Theater of Operations and D-Day Normandy invasion and now the largest WWII reenactment in the country.

Since 1999, this re-creation of the events surrounding the allied landings on the coast of Normandy, France has thrilled tens of thousands of spectators and now boasts a yearly event attendance over 35,000.

The event occurs within the beautifully landscaped grounds of Conneaut Township Park, in Conneaut, Ohio, near the border of Ohio/Pennsylvania, just off Interstate 90. Conneaut’s 250-yard long beach and sloping adjacent terrain, where the main battle reenactment takes place, closely resemble Omaha Beach in Normandy, France. Other areas of the park provide secluded venues for recreations of inland skirmishes between the occupying German soldiers, French resistance fighters, and Allied parachute and Glider infantry. Dr. Carmella Knoernschild, local dance mom and River Valley Orthodontist, announced the team to perform at the next Sugar Bowl.

This is bigger than dance. It is a spotlight on Russellville and an opportunity for these young girls to learn leadership skills and become role models.
