Kirkland Family Dentistry recently received the Best of People award in the dental clinic category in The Kirkland Reporter’s annual reader contest.

The contest invites newspaper readers to vote for the “best of” in many categories in the Kirkland area. Dental clinics were listed under the “People” category by the newspaper.

“We’re just delighted and amazed that so many people voted for us,” said Dr. Jonathan Everett. “It’s one thing to receive an award from your peers in the community, but it’s entirely different when the people you serve give you an award. That means so much more.”

The contest covered the Kirkland, WA, area and included many other dental offices.

The announcement comes just as Kirkland Family Dentistry is celebrating its 26th anniversary and the addition to Dr. Everett to the practice.  Dr. Greene and Dr. Everett will be practicing together for years to come.  As Dr. Greene stated, “two minds are better than one, and this goes for dentistry as well.”

The EmoSPARKcube allows users to see the impact of the development of the system’s emotional state. By reading its user’s facial emotions and by picking up on not only the wording, but also soon tone of voice, the cube can relay how it feels to its user.

The EPU hasan emotion profile graph (EPG), which allows the AI the capacity to develop a long-term personality. The current data that has reached Emoshape is allowing them to edit how the chip works when it is being spoken to either positively or negatively.

LOS ANGELES, CA – 23 Sep, 2015 – Recent statistics show that every week in the United States, over eleven million children 0 to 5 years of age are involved in some type of childcare arrangement, each spending an average of 36 hours per week in a daily and/or before or after program. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, projections are that the early childhood development industry will have some of the fastest employment growth of all industries through 2020.

While the number of chain-operated childcare facilities has increased somewhat over the last several decades, a significant growth spurt in early childhood development centers is taking place in the parochial and public school sectors, driven by the increased need for and number of two income families, as well as working single moms.

Other contributing factors to this growth spurt is that over 60% of working moms with children under three desire to find qualified centers that provide excellent educational opportunities, and the fact that family dynamics are changing and there isn’t always someone available to care for or educate the children.

Richard Ross, owner of Los Angeles, California-based Early Childhood Professionals saw a need for a company that consults with and designs/builds early childcare centers for private and public schools. Ross says that the need for more childcare centers is rising at a faster pace than ever, especially in cities in the Midwest and along the Southeast border states, and mostly in parochial schools.

“Our biggest and fastest growing products are developing business plans and market feasibility studies for religious schools,” says Ross. “Our biggest markets have largely been rural mid-western areas and southern east coast suburban communities in Virginia, Florida, etc. Most of our work has been with churches and church schools, and we work with any and all denominations and organizations.”

“We excel in developing Christian early childhood development centers, usually located on the premises of a church,” says Ross. “The centers are anywhere from 40 to 500 children in size and include childcare, preschool, daycare, and early childhood development. Each of these titles has its own definition, but it all comes down to caring for children between 6 weeks to 5 years of age (i.e., pre-kindergarten). Our work usually begins with a church, which wants to build a new center or improve an existing center, though sometimes a center comes straight to us for help.”

“There are thousands of Christian childcare programs around the country, but there’s little professional support for them. We come from a tradition of building and growing Christian childcare as a mission of the church, and we are now prepared to offer our services nationwide.”

According to Amber Lappin, country wide Early Childhood Consultant and Trainer based in Menifee, CA, childcare is a fast growing industry throughout the country because more households have to have both parents working to make ends meet. There are a lot of single parents as well. Childcare centers and early childhood development centers have to be of high quality because these are the formative years, and that’s what we provide.

For a cancer patient, there are three fundamental types of stem cell transplant; Autologous, Allogenic, and Syngeneic.

In order to get rid of blood cancers, huge doses of chemotherapy are applied which destroy cells in your body including the cancerous cells. During this process, the bone marrow stem cells amongst other blood cells are killed and therefore, stem cells are used so that they can develop into a healthy blood system in your body over time. These stem cells are given through a vein, and then later settles within the bone marrow to grow, and replace the destroyed cells – the process is known as engraftment. In essence, the concept is to kill the bad cancerous cells and replace them with fresh healthy ones. For a cancer patient, there are three fundamental types of stem cell transplant;

 ● Allogenic 

 ● Syngeneic


Autologous Stem Cell Transplant

The stem cells are derived from a patient before chemotherapy is applied. This is only if the patient is in remission. Once the chemotherapy is done and the existing stem cells are destroyed, the preserved stem cells are given back into the body. Autologous is beneficial since a patient gets his or her own cells and there is less risk of complications or rejection of the cells. This type of transplant is normally used in cancers of the blood, both for adults and youngsters.

Allogeneic Stem Cell Transplant

This is different from autologous as the stem cells are obtained from a donor that is compatible (match) to the patient (recipient). In most cases, donors are close relatives, usually a sister or a brother. Even if there is a match, there are increased risk of complications and rejection of the transplant. Cord blood, blood obtained from umbilical cord and placenta of newborn, is a reliable and rich source of stem cells for this type of transplant, and also the cells seem to multiply faster. However, this source has less number of stem cells per unit volume, hence known to be suitable only for children and babies.

Syngeneic Stem Cell Transplant

This is also known as a special type of allogeneic transplant, which is limited to a given recipient with a similar or identical sibling (twin/triplet) as a donor. In this case, the donor is a complete match to the patient. This stem cell transplant is quite beneficial to the patient since risks such as rejections are minimal to non existing, similar to an autologous transplantation.


Presently, it is possible to donate your stem cells. For them to be used, they need to match that of the recipient.  It is important to donate as many patients may lack family members such as a brother or sister which sometimes are a suitable donor. The medical experts can identify a person with closely similar stem cells to donate. This process is referred to as a Matched Unrelated Donor (MUD) transplant.
