On February 11, the baby pandas born in 2015 in Chengdu Panda Research Base made an appearance and said hello the lunar New Year, so as to share the happiness of Spring Festival with visitors. Compared with the Twins in Global Appearance on October 24, 2015, the baby pandas born in 2015 have grown bigger obviously, and also become more active with their own individuality.

All the little guys showed special skills and changed their poses in front of the camera to act cute. Their lovely and silly appearance made the visitors cannot help laughing and clapping their hands.

To be more attractive to visitors, Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding has made adequate preparations. Red lanterns are hung everywhere, making the park full of festival atmosphere. Therein, the thick branches and bamboo forests looked thriving and particularly festive with the ornament of big red lanterns.

In addition, piles of panda statues can be seen everywhere in the park, e.g., on the roof, the trunk and the rockery… The cute baby panda ornaments with various poses were very attractive and made them so loved by visitors.

 

It is introduced that the visitor volume on February 9 (the first day in lunar calendar) to the Base was more than 10000, and on February 11 (the third day in lunar calendar), the number climbed up to more than 30000.

It is said by the related person in charge of the Base that, according to the past experience, from the second half of the Golden Week holidays in Spring Festival, the visitor volume will continue growing by multiples, so it is recommended that the visitors avoid peak hours (after 14:00 p.m. every day, the visitor volume is relatively less than that in the morning).

Children’s book encourages children to embrace who they are despite social norms

LOS ANGELES, California – February 25, 2016 – More children are committing suicide and going through depression than ever due to the negative impact of social standards of gender roles. However, each person has a right to be accepted for who they are! Ph.D. student, Scott A. Hodges, launched a Kickstarter campaign to support his latest creative venture that will encourage children to embrace who they are without society influencing them on how they should act. The venture is called Project NOMADS, which entails a series of gender-neutral stories centered on a gender-neutral society of aliens from outer space. The Kickstarter goal is to raise $250,000 by March 24, 2016. 

The characters have unisex names and are completely ambiguous to the sexual identity pool. Scott wrote the stories to comfort children during the important adolescent years. He hopes the youths of today will not be depressed about who they are, but embrace every part of them with joy. Hodges self-published “The NOMADS of the Outer Space” book, which is available on Amazon. Scott took the self-publishing route to make sure that a portion of the profits are donated to non-profit organizations that teach diversity and tolerance. 

The campaign will fund three initiatives of the NOMADS project:

Project 1: Illustrate and print eight books in the series.

Project 2: Manufacture and sell stuffed aliens that resemble NOMADS for children and parents to enjoy.

Project 3: Produce a children and adult pajama line. 

Hodges hopes this is a step in the right direction to help kids enjoy their childhood free of pain and animosity for being different.

QFLOWS FEATURED AT ROCK THE MIC SHOWCASE

New York City Venue First Stop on 2016 North American Tour

San Diego hip hop artist QFlows was a featured artist at Sony Music’s recent RockTheMic Artist Showcase in New York City on January 12, 2016.

The January RockTheMic event pulled hip hop artists from around the country to perform at The Pyramid Club in Manhattan’s East Village. QFlows shared the stage with some of the region’s top artists, some from as far away as Australia and Japan.

QFlows took the stage to perform tracks from an underground EP with a working title of, “The Mighty EP”. “This was my first chance to perform in New York City and I loved every minute of it. The energy was crazy and the vibe I got from the crowd really pushed me,” he remarked. “The support and encouragement from the fans and the venue staff was awesome. I met industry people in New York I would never have had a chance to meet otherwise. A very inspirational experience.”

Spending a few days in New York gave QFlows an opportunity to be a bit of a regular tourist, also. Reflecting on life in general and Manhattan in particular, he spent some precious time at the top of Freedom Tower at the site of the World Trade Center Twin Towers lost on September 11, 2001.

“Life is short. We need to spread love and happiness as best we can while we’re here, and going to the top of Freedom Tower drove that home for me,” Q commented. “My music is one way I do that and I hope people who listen to it take a bit of love and happiness from it.”

Belts that were successfully coached by Marrero’s projects resulted in a cost avoidance or savings of $5,000,000 dollars over the program years of the processes improved in client firms. As Marrero reviewed the steps of the LSS methodology, he stressed the importance of identifying root causes for problems identified in each critical process step and in ensuring they are using the proper metrics in analyzing the process.

“You cannot manage what you do not measure. If we measure it, we can fix it,” said Marrero. In addition to the financial benefits that his client firms have received from his efforts, operational processes have been improved by as much as 250% through Marrero’s efforts.

The IRS gains power to revoke your passports

Tampere, Finland – February 2016 – Piceasoft has signed a three-year agreement to provide over 120 Swisscom shops with PiceaSwitch™. The agreement also includes a point of sale option for PiceaEraser™ and PiceaDiagnostics™ products.

A three-months testing and pilot period revealed that PiceaSwitch is up to twice as fast as alternative products. Better usability and improved recognition of new devices were among the additional factors supporting the decision to purchase.
