    Investing in future generations helps students and benefits the whole of society. To increase financial assistance for children in impoverished areas and make a meaningful difference to poverty alleviation through education, on the afternoon of April 18th, the Yilong County Government and PFGHL held a ceremony marking PFGHL’s contribution to the construction of the Shifo Township Primary School in Yilong County, Nanchong City. During the ceremony, PFGHL announced that it will donate RMB 500,000 for the construction of a new kindergarten to help and improve school conditions and provide a better learning environment for students. In addition, crayons, books, and other learning tools were provided to over 800 students in the rest of the school by PFGHL during the ceremony.

     

    Senior officials and other guests included Mai Shengxue, Vice Chairman of the Yilong County CPPCC Committee; Luo Jie, Secretary General of the CPPCC; Yang Rong, member and Deputy Director of the County Education Bureaus Party Committee; Liu Min, Party Secretary of Shifo Township; Luo Yu, Party Committee Deputy Secretary and Mayor of Shifo Township; Lin Ke, headmaster of Shifo Township Primary School; Hui Yui Sang, Chairman of PFGHL, and other representatives of the company.     The Yilong County Shifo Primary School is located in Xinchun Village, Shifo Township, Yilong County. It has 24 classes, nearly 1,000 students and 53 faculty members. The kindergarten is located at the main school and currently has 173 students. Due to the lack of teachers, classrooms, and other hardwares and facilities, there are only two kindergarten classes. Total investment in the new kindergarten is expected to be RMB 2.2 million. The construction area will be approximately 400 square meters, area of activity will be 800 square meters, and 220 students are expected to enroll.

     

    Since building the Nanchong Factory in 2013, PFGHL has invested HKD 500 million and helped to create over 1500 employment positions in Yilong County. In October 2017, PFGHL began investment in the construction of a silkworm breeding base aimed at alleviating poverty and supporting agriculture, benefiting the whole Yilong County. The latest donation goes a long way toward solving the pressing issues facing Shifo Township Primary School. It provides strong financial support for the school and is further testament to PFGHL’s commitment to actively fulfilling its corporate social responsibilities.     This year’s A Taste of Broome (ATOB) will celebrate the history of Broome and its people, cementing its place as a highlight of the Broome tourism calendar for a sixth year in a row.

    2018, running on 12th July, 9th August and 6th September, will see the main music and picture show focus on the fusion of Asian and Aboriginal cultures whilst also acknowledging the community impact of World War II, the pearling industry, the stolen generation, the 1967 referendum, tourism and the past 40 years of the Kimberley Land Council. We will touch on the 2018 NAIDOC theme “Because of her we can,” and introduce some incredible young and emerging local musical talent into the show in which local musical compositions and film feature so heavily.

    You can hear the stories and walk with us hand-in-hand as together we experience the sentimental and emotion-filled journey of Broome’s history re-enacted through local live music and traditional and contemporary dance.

    This year’s celebration of culture will kick off for the public from 5.30pm on Thursday July 12th with festivities to follow on August 9th and September 6th.

    ATOB continues to be a unique music and picture show experience that combines Broome’s distinctive Indigenous culture and its multicultural community to promote its vibrant soul through music, dance, food, arts and crafts, tradition and heritage.

    Acclaimed artists returning for this year’s show include Stephen “Baamba” Albert who has been entertaining audiences on stages and television sets around the country for forty years. He is best known for his starring roles in Jimmy Chi’s hit musicals Corrugation Road and Bran Nue Dae. Other returning artists include Yoshi Hunter, Pauline Bin Sali and Susie Quicke. You’ll be able to catch all of these outstanding performers onall three nights of the festival.

    Building on the success of previous events, the 2018 ATOB will feature a number of new performances, artists and cuisines.

    Turkey has witnessed a robust growth in the number of English-language international schools, registering an increase of 40% since 2013. 

    The data was released by ISC Research, the leading supplier of data and intelligence on the English-medium K-12 international schools market, ahead of the second edition of the GESS Turkey education conference and exhibition that will take place at the WOW Istanbul Convention Centre this year.

    From just 84 in 2013, the number of English-language, K-12 international schools in Turkey has increased to 118 this year, with a total of 69,600 students and 8,200 full-time teaching staff.

    The steady growth of international schools in Turkey affirms the countrys rising appeal as a global education hub, said Sarah Palmer, Marketing and Conference Director, Tarsus F&E LLC Middle East, organisers of GESS Turkey.
